In Match 26 of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016, Khulna Titans (KT) emerged victorious in front of Barisal Bulls (BB) at Sher-e-Bangla stadium, Dhaka. It was yet another clinical performance by Mahmudullah’s men as they edged past Mushfiqur Rahim’s lackluster side in a vital game of the group stage. With another loss, BB have now moved to the last four of the points table while KT continue their resurgence on top of the rankings. Winning the toss, Rahim elected to bat. His side did not get off to a great start as the openers faltered early. Jeevan Mendis again got off to a start but went for 14. David Malan perished for 7 while Shahriar Nafees could only make 23 before heading back to the pavilion. No one else stood their ground as Titans bowled in god lines and did not give away easy runs. Regular breakthroughs also dented Bulls’ progress as only Rahim top-scored with 31 while Thisara Perera and Enamul Haque tried their best to take the total above 120.

Junaid Khan and Shiaful Islam picked up a wicket each while everyone else bowled economically. In reply, Titans came out with all guns blazing Taibur Rahman gave them a good start. However, Rumman Raees’ twin strikes pushed Titans back but a steady knock from skipper Mahmudullah and Suvagata Hom took them home by 6 wickets.

Brief scores:

Barisal Bulls 119 for 5 in 20 overs (Jeevan Mendis 14, Shahriar Nafees 23, Mushfiqur Rahim 31; Junaid Khan 1 for 12, Shaiful Islam 1 for 31) lost to Khulna Titans 120 for 4 in 18.4 overs (Taibur Rahman 21, Suvagata Hom 40, Mahmudullah 36*) by 6 wickets.
