Winning the toss, the RK decided to bat first but their batsmen failed to live upto the mark. Reckless display from their top order left them wanting for more before Sammy played a blinder of 71 not out to take them to some sort of score. In reply, KT were in a spot of bother and despite some resistance from Mahmudullah and Riki Wessels could not prevent them from a defeat. ALSO READ: DD vs CV, BPL 2016 Match 27 Report: Shakib, Bravo guide Dynamites to victory

In the first innings, Kings openers Mominul Haque and Junaid Siddique departed in quick succession after getting a look-in. Mominul ditched his side when the score was only 26 while his partner followed him soon. Wickets kept on tumbling from one end as the big guns like Sabbir Rahman, Samit Patel and Umar Akmal could not muster enough runs off their blade.

At one point, the Kings had put up just 66 runs on the board and had lost their top 4 batsmen when their skipper walked out. With not much batting left at the other end, Sammy took the proceedings into his hands and took the attack to the opposition. He took some time initially to get himself eased into the situation and unleashed the long handle to good effect in the death overs.

Kevon Cooper was the stand-out performer for his side along with in-form Shaiful Islam even though the latter was expensive. In reply, KT looked out of steam to chase down the target in hand. Opener and in-form batsman Wessels looked promising but could not last for long. He made a valiant 37 off 32 balls but was cleaned up by Sammy.

The top-order faltered as no one held his end for long. Mahmudullah looked in business but perished for 33. Wicketkeeper-batsman, Nicholas Pooran, smacked a few big shots but went a little overboard to get out for 28. KT were losing wickets at regular intervals while RK kept their nerves to earn two vital points in the end.

Cooper and Ariful Haque did their bit to take their side close to RK's total but could not succeed. With back-to-back wins, the last one against Rangpur Riders (RR), RK still have a bright chance to make it to the playoffs while KT will like to move on from this game and comeback hard in their next encounter. They are still on top of the league stage while RK have 8 points to their kitty.

Brief scores:

Rajshahi Kings 154 for 8 in 20 overs (Junaid Siddique 21, Darren Sammy 71*; Kevin Cooper 2 for 31, Shaiful Islam 2 for 53) beat Khulna Titans 145 for 6 in 20 overs (Riki Wessels 37, Mahmudullah 33, Nicholas Pooran 28; Nazmul Islam 1 for 17, Abul Hasan 1 for 25) by 9 runs.
