Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will look to build on the momentum that they gained from their win in their encounter against Hobart Hurricanes when they face Barbados Tridents in the fifth match of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20 2014 (CLT20) at their home ground of Mohali on Saturday.

KXIP walk into the game with a slight mental edge over the Tridents as the win in their opening encounter of the tournament will be a great morale booster for the side. It was the middle-order trio of Glenn Maxwell, George Bailey and Thisara Perera who rescued the side after a shaky start that saw the team trail at a score of 77 for the loss of five wickets while chasing a target of 146. The home side eventually won by five wickets.

The Barbados Tridents on the other hand are the solitary team to represent the Caribbean in the Twenty20 competition, having recently emerged the winners of this year’s edition of the Caribbean Premier League. Though they have registered power-packed performances in the Caribbean T20 event, they will sorely miss the absence of the likes of Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik and Dwayne Smith, all of whom played crucial roles in their sides above-par performances and have decided to represent other teams for the ongoing competition.

For Kings XI, a main cause of worry ahead of the clash will be the top-order, which collapsed against Hobart, though Maxwell’s presence in the middle-order is a reassuring for the side. For the Tridents, skipper Rayad Emrit will bank of experienced T20 players such as James Franklin, Ravi Rampaul, Neil McKenzie among others to propel the team forward.
