Gautam Gambhir’s KKR beat Mumbai Indians in the opening match in IPL 2014. They then lost to Delhi Daredevils in their second match. Kolkata played Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 24 at Sharjah in their third match. Kolkata posted 150 for seven in 20 overs. Jacques Kallis scored 43 and Chris Lynn scored 45. Bangalore needed 10 runs in 10 deliveries to win the match. This is when Lynn produced the catch of the tournament to dismiss AB de Villiers. Kolkata went onto win the match by two runs.

Punjab on the other hand, have won all their three matches with ease. The first two victories against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were big chases. They then batted first against Sunrisers Hyderabad and scored a big total. Punjab won the match by 72 runs. There has been one constant for Punjab in all their victories — Glenn Maxwell. The Australian batsman has scored 95, 89 and 95 in his three innings. Punjab enter as the favourites for this match, but Kolkata will be hoping Sunil Narine can stop Maxwell and the opposition.
