KKR vs RCB, IPL 2019: AB de Villiers ruled out of KKR vs RCB today’s IPL match with mild concussion

Royal Challengers Bangalore were dealt with a huge blow ahead of their game against Kolkata Knight Riders with AB de Villiers ruled out of the fixture owing to a mild concussion, he sustained in the previous match, in Match 35 of IPL 2019 at the Eden Gardens on Friday.

De Villiers was hit on the helmet by a Jasprit Bumrah delivery in the 19th over in RCB’s innings, when the South African was batting on 67. After beaten for pace, De Villiers copped a hard one straight on the helmet and had to take a breather with the physio coming out to check on him.

During Mumbai’s innings, de Villiers did not take the field and and two days later, he did not travel with the team to the Eden Gardens. Greame Smith, on broadcast duty for the host broadcasters confirmed that De Villiers has had a mild concussion and RCB have taken the necessary steps in accordance to the concussion protocols in cricket.

For KKR also there are injury worries with Andre Russell, after being hit on his riht shoulder during practice, still in doubt for this game.

KKR are sixth on the IPL 2019 points table and RCB are last out of eight teams. Dinesh Karthik’s team is undergoing a slump and will hope to end it by completing a double over Virat Kohli’s RCB.
