KL Rahul continued his strange trend of failing in every alternate match, getting out in the very first over of the innings, while Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed in the fourth over on Day One of the third Test between India and Sri Lanka at Colombo (SSC). After getting an inside edge for two off the first ball he faced, Rahul was bowled by Dhammika Prasad after he tried to leave a full ball that seamed in a long way after pitching. Rahane meanwhile looked very good, hitting a couple of boundaries before falling LBW to Nuwan Pradeep for a 13-ball eight. Virat Kohli came in at No. 4 to join Cheteshwar Pujara. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss on a recently-relaid SSC greentop and elected to bowl first. Indian skipper Virat Kohli too admitted that he would have liked to bat first. Both teams made a few changes, some forced. India had to leave out the injured Wriddhiman Saha and Murali Vijay, bringing in Cheteshwar Pujara and handing a debut to Naman Ojha. Sri Lanka brought back Nuwan Pradeep in place of Dushmantha Chameera, and were forced to finally come to terms with Kumar Sangakkara’s retirement by bringing in Upul Tharanga in his place. They also replaced the under-performing Jehan Mubarak with Kusal Perera. Live cricket updates: India vs Sri Lanka, 3rd Test at Colombo (SSC), Day 1
