KL Rahul has been included in the Indian squad as its 16th member after a good performance against Rajasthan in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2016-17 match against Rajasthan. Opening the innings for Karnataka, Rahul scored a 85-ball 76 and followed it up with 106 off 131 balls in the second innings to put Karnataka on the cusp of yet another easy win. India coach Anil Kumble had mentioned that the likes of Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan have to prove themselves in the Ranji Trophy to be in contention for a national call-up. Rahul last played for India in the first Test against Kanpur against New Zealand, where he scored 32 and 38 respectively in his two innings. He suffered an injury and did not play the reminder of the series. He also missed out on an opportunity to play the One-Day International (ODI) series against the Kiwis. Rahul in an interview to Mid Day had mentioned that it will not be easy to return after an injury. You really can t stay away from injury and coming back after injury is never easy. India and England played out a draw in the first Test at Rajkot. A gritty knock from Virat Kohli, along with Ravindra Jadeja ensured India do not lose to England on the final day, after they were set a target of 310. The second Test between the two sides will be played in Vizag, beginning from November 17.
