Being the hosts of the tournament, Pakistan first got defeated by New Zealand, then by India. Their final match against Bangladesh, which was a dad-rubber match, got washed off.

Babar was heavily trolled and criticised for his slow approach against New Zealand in their series opener, and then he failed to make a significant impact against India. Babar’s score in the tournament was 87 runs in two matches.

Despite the poor performance by the star player and the team, former Pakistan coach Mohsin Khan has dropped a nuke of a statement on the batter, comparing hi to Virat Kohli. He stated that Kohli is nothing compared to Babar.

Speaking to Ary News, Mohsin Khan stated, “First of all, let me tell you one thing. Virat Kohli is nothing compared to Babar Azam; Kohli is zero. We are not talking here about who is a better player and we are talking about Pakistan cricket. Which has been destroyed. There is no planning, no strategies, no merit, and there is no accountability at all. There is no accountability.”

According to report by Cricket Pakistan, the Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) has announced to uphold a review of the Pakistan team’s performance after the Champions Trophy 2025. This might include a significant change in the squad, especially players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.
