Kolkata elect to bat against Delhi in the first IPL qualifier

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to bat first in the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 against Delhi Daredevils at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune.

The winner of this game would directly proceed to the final. However, the loser gets another shot at qualification for the final as they would face the winner of the eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

Delhi have been strengthened by the return of Virender Sehwag who had missed the last few games due to an illness. Ross Taylor also returned for Delhi to strengthen their middle order. Kolkata were unchanged from their previous game.
