After pulling off an astonishing win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pushed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) down the Indian Premier League (IPL) ladder through net run rate and and avoid the eliminator. Kolkata have moved to the second spot courtesy of a run rate of +0.42 and where Chennai’s is a narrow third in +0.38.

Kolkata were struggling to be in the hunt for the game and after the loss of two quick wickets, including that of talisman Robin Uthappa for 41. Yusuf then went for broke smashing the Hyderabad bowlers to all parts of the ground for his incredible 72 off 22 balls. Needing to chase a formidable 161 of 15 overs in front of a partisan Eden Gardens crowd, Kolkata did in some style by finishing the match in just 14.2 overs.

Kolkata had secured qualification earlier with their facile win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in their previous tie and this win also puts Mumbai Indians in the fray for a spot in the top four.
