Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have beaten Deccan Chargers (DC) by five wickets in the 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 at Cuttack. With the win, KKR now move to the third position in the Points Table.

During the run-chase, KKR lost opener Brendon McCullum in the third over for just ten runs. The rest of the top order could not contribute in the run-chase as wickets tumbled at regular intervals.

Skipper Gautam Gambhir too could not consolidate the innings as he departed after scoring 30 runs. All-rounder Jacques Kallis and Manoj Tiwary consolidated the innings but Kallis dismissal brought Deccan back into the match.

Earlier, after losing the toss, the Deccan side had set a target of 126 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Batting first, DC made a steady start on the rain-affected pitch.

Skipper Kumar Sangakkara, was clean bowled by in-form Laxmipathy Balaji as the left-handed batsman attempted to accelerate. Sangakkara departed for just 12 runs.

Shikhar Dhawan, the second opener, however, went on to score his half-century as KKR bowlers bowled economically, and made the home side struggle for runs.
