In the game No 25 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 played between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Ahmadabad, Kolkata made a steady start to their innings. Robin Uthappa, known for playing big shots was the first one to open up with a fine pull shot off the bowling of Rajasthan captain, Shane Watson. He continued to play shots on both sides of the wicket. Gautam Gambhir looked to consolidate for KKR.

Earlier, Gambhir won the toss and elected to field. There was a tinge of grass on the wicket which surprised many, but the track has played true till the completion of 12 overs.  It was Ajinkya Rahane who showcased some fine stroke-play by playing shots with equanimity, balance and poise. Once he was run out, Samson and Nair took over by doing well. Nair too was out, stumped off the bowling of Shakib Al Hasan. Rajasthan finally ended up with 170 runs on the board. The wicket though, still holds true and a score of 170 can be chased down.
