KSCA XI lose to Dr. DY Patil Academy in KSCA All-India cricket tournament

Bengaluru: Dr. DY Patil Academy from Mumbai overwhelmed Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) XI by an innings and 31 runs on the second day of the four-day match in the final of the KSCA All-India cricket tournament here on Saturday. Spinners Iqbal Abdullah (5 for 39) and Swapnil Singh (3 for 44) yet again had the measure of the KSCA batsmen who collapsed in a heap to be all out for 92 in their second innings after trailing by 123 runs in the first essay. Patil Academy, thanks to a century by Yogesh Takawale (110, 124b, 12×4, 4×6) made 307 in reply to KSCA’s first innings tally of 184 and went on to bundle out the hosts to chalk up a fluent victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Nitin Saini (118, 209b, 14×4, 1×6) and Abhimanyu Khod (92, 180b, 7×4, 2×6) put on 204 runs to carry Haryana to 242 for two in 70 overs against KSCA President’s XI in the semifinal. Kunal Kapoor (165 not out, 160b, 21×4, 1×6) became the third centurion for the President’s XI after Samarth Ravikumar (171) and Liyan Khan (141) as the home team made 581 for three in their allotted 120 overs. In the other semi-final, KSCA XI were in command as they dismissed KSCA Secretary’s XI for 205 for a first innings lead of 136 runs which they stretched by making 169 for two in their second essay with opener Robin Uthappa making 88 (110b, 4×11, 6×2) and KL Rahul scoring 55.
