Kumar Sangakkara completes 1,000 runs in Asia Cup
Former cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya is the top-run getter in the tournament’s history.

Sri Lankaâs batting mainstay Kumar Sangakkara on Monday completed 1,000 runs in Asia Cup tournament, during the seventh match of the 2014 edition against Afghanistan at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.
Sangakkara achieved the feat in the seventh over of the innings when he struck a boundary off Afghan pacer Dawlat Zadran. Before this innings, Sangakkara scored 997 runs in 22 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) at an average of 52.47.
The left-handed batsman joined his countryman Sanath Jayasuriya as the top-run getters in the tournamentâs history. Jayasuriya is leading the table with 1,220 runs in 25 matches at an average of 53.04.
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is now on the third spot in the table with 973 runs in 23 at an average of 51.10. Indian captain Virat Kohli is at the seventh spot in the list, which contains as many as six Sri Lankans.
