Kumar Sangakkara has scored a typically solid half-century in Sri Lanka’s first innings against Pakistan on the second day of the first Test in Galle, before nicking fast bowler Wahab Riaz behind. After the first day was rained off, Sri Lanka were asked to bat by Misbah-ul-Haq and the top order showed its grittiness in face of probing fast and spin bowling. His was the second wicket to fall, after opener Dimuth Karunaratne was dismissed via an edge to the wicketkeeper, also by Riaz. This brought Sangakkara to the crease, and he struck a 112-run partnership with the other opener, Kaushal Silva, who is still unbeaten after having scored a half-century.
