Kumar Sangakkara announced that he will retire from Tests after playing two matches against India after the ongoing series against Pakistan. He also announced that he will skip the third Test against Pakistan. Sangakkara had said that he wanted to retire earlier but with Mahela Jayawardene too making his intentions to retire, nahe did not feel it was right to retire at the same time. Twitter has been abuzz after he decided to make this announcement at the end of the day’s play in the ongoing Test against Pakistan at Colombo.

Sangakkara has already retired from One-Day Internationals (ODI) after playing his last match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 againts South Africa in the quarter-final stage. Sangakkara has excellent records in both formats. He averages over 41 in ODIs and above 58 in Tests.
