Top-order batsman Kusal Perera and lead spinner Akila Dananajaya has been ruled out of Sri Lanka’s T20I squad for the one-off T20I against England on Saturday.

The dup have been replaced by opening bat Sadeera Samarawickrema and spinner Amila Aponso.

Perera is still recovering from his injury suffered during the ODI series, while Dananjaya is also suffering from a leg injury, occurred during the 5th ODI, s statement from Sri Lanka Cricket board said.

Samarawickrema, 23, had a decent outing with the bat against England 35, 1 and 54 in the three ODI matches he batted while Aponso managed three wickets in three games.

SLC had earlier announced the 15-member squad led by Thisara Perera.

Sri Lanka, ranked ninth in T20Is, have won four of seven T20Is this year. In their last match, versus South Africa in August, they ended a run of three successive losses by winning by three wickets.

They will hope that Kusal Mendis’ return to form and a bold, watch-winning innings from skipper Dinesh Chandimal has sparked a revival of limited-overs form.
