Kuwait chase 139-run target down in 8.5 ovs

Kuwait beat Maldives by nine wickets during their Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Twenty20 Cup meeting at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Kuwait chased the 139-run target in 8.5 overs, the second-fastest for a target in excess of 100.

Maldives elected to bat after winning the toss. They were however, undone by the Kuwait bowling attack, with Sibtain Raza collecting figures of five for 27 as Maldives finished on a score of 138 for nine. Kuwait in reply raced to the target in a mere 53 balls, with Mohammad Irfan (63 off 26 balls) and Aamir Javed (55 off 18 balls) smashing half-centuries to guide their side to a quick win.
Kuwait managed to maintain their unbeaten run in the tournament so far, winning their previous games against Singapore and Saudi Arabia by 10 and three runs respectively. Maldives have had a polar opposite run in the tournament so far, losing to Malaysia by 56 runs in their opening encounter, before getting decimated by Singapore by 68 runs.
