Man of the Match: Rahmat Shah

  • 4:55 PM IST

Afghanistan win match and series! Brilliant comeback by Afghanistan in the match after losing their openers early. Rashid Khan has been the star of the match with his century. The knock was not only run-fetching but helped Afghanistan gain stability.

  • 4:38 PM IST

Afghanistan sniff victory: Over hundred runs added by the duo of Shenwari and Rahmat. Brilliant knock from Rahmat, who is close to his century, his second in ODIs and Shenwari, who supported him well with his half-century.

  • 3:49 PM IST

Fifty for Rahmat Shah! A brilliant knock from the player under pressure. Held his nerve and refused to throw his wicket away. Rahmat played with patience taking very less risks and has completed his sixth ODI half-century.

  • 3:24 PM IST

Stanikzai departs for 39! The partnership is broken as Stanikzai departs. Unnecessary shot after such a composed innings. Thompson makes no mistake to take a clean catch at long off. Rahmat Shah is still at the crease. AFG has 100 runs up on the board!

  • 2:46 PM IST

Asghar Stanikzai, Rahmat Shah bring in stability: Afghanistan lost two quick wickets as Tarakai followed Shahzad soon after. Stanikza and Rahmat took charge and they have brought up 50 for the team.
Ireland’s fielding has been exceptional so far. Two brilliant catches, one from the captain and the second from substitute fielder Barry McCarthy to dismiss Tarakai.

  • 2:15 PM IST

OUT! Once again, Shahzad departs without any major contribution. He had hit a big six a couple of deliveries before and departed trying to hit another. Porterfield takes a brilliant low diving catch at point.

  • 1:57 PM IST

Patience is the mantra: The target is not huge and looking at the hard-hitters Afghanistan have in the middle-order, the two openers can take their time and gradually build a good partnership. However, Shahzad is a natural hard-hitter which brings it on to Tarakai, the debutant, to pace down his innings, rotate strike and give more to Shahzad.

  • 1:15 PM IST

That’s it! Afghanistan to chase 230 runs to win the crucial decider. The bowlers cleared the tail quickly to restrict Ireland from putting up a total of 250 or more. The onus will now be on Afghanistan batsmen.

  • 12:44 PM IST

OUT! Niall O’ Brien gets his pad on the Rashid Khan delivery and it is plumb, umpire takes very little time to raise his finger.
Another wicket! Credit goes to Shenwari who took a brilliant catch. Moved to his left for left-hander Stuart Thompson from cover and dived almost to extra cover. A diving one-handed catch dismisses the batsman.

  • 12:30 PM IST

BOWLED HIM! Yorked it at lightning speed at middle and Wilson did not have the minimum reaction time to put some bat on it. The middle stump is uprooted. Finally, success for Dawlat Zadran.

  • 12:21 PM IST

Brilliant catch! Ireland lose another wicket as Balbirnie departs for 7. The batsman goes for a slog hit, ends up top-edging it to square leg where Shafiqullah Shafaq takes a diving catch after running in from deep.

A couple of appeals follow soon. It was the sound of bat hitting the ground the first time. For the second, there seems to be a deviation.

  • 12:06 PM IST

OUT! After hitting a couple of consecutive boundaries, Porterfield departs for 34. Fareed has not been very impressive with his spell, with wayward bowling at time but gets a crucial wicket. Good seam position and gets a bit of movement with which the bowler beats the batsman.

  • 11:47 AM IST

Landmark for Porterfield! Porterfield becomes the first ever Ireland cricketer to complete his 3,000 runs. He will have to play a captain’s knock today in this crucial match. Afghanistan need wickets to build pressure as Ireland are in a good position now.

  • 11:21 AM IST

BOWLED HIM! Gulbadin Naib gets Afghanistan the wicket they wanted. Stirling is beaten by line, opens the face of the bat but the ball kept straight. As Anjum Chopra said, the middle stump went cartwheeling! What a delight for a bowler!
However Striling has done his job, scored the fourth fifty in five ODIs.

  • 10:57 AM IST

Ireland close to 100! Ireland have done a brilliant job so far. They know they need to put up good uns against batting-heavy Afghanistan on the board. The Irish batsmen batting with patience and not throwing wickets away.

  • 10:45 AM IST

Breakthrough for Afghanistan: Joyce misses the line completely, beaten by Rashid’s legspin. The ball finds the big gap between bat and pad and hits the off-stump.

  • 10:43 AM IST

50 for Ireland! A job well done by the Ireland openers as they bring up fifty for the side. Joyce has paced his innings up with frequent boundaries. Hits a six to Nabi.

  • 10:16 AM IST

Ireland off to steady start! 30 runs up on the board without any loss. Both Stirling and Joyce are in a good form and a big partnership between them will take the team to a big score. Kevin O’ Brien is not there today, which increases pressure on every individual.

  • 9:55 AM IST

Dropped: Chance dropped here in the slip cordon. Dawlat swings the ball away from an in form Stirling who is in two minds. Gets the outside edge on it but Rashid at first slip fails to react. Dawlat is not happy naturally.

An interesting change today for Afghanistan who have picked Farid Malik. The bowler started off with 3 wide deliveries. Has good pace but lacks accuracy. Pressure of the match, is it?

  • 9:27 AM IST

UPDATE: Forced change for Ireland as injured Kevin has to sit out and Niall O’Brien comes in.

Big change for Afghanistan as Amir Hamza is dropped. Najib Tarakai makes ODI debut.

Hello and welcome to live cricket score and updates of the final ODI of the five-match series between Afghanistan and Ireland at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, India. This is the decider as both sides have won a couple of games each so far in the series. While Afghanistan have been the dominant side, Ireland have put up great competition to draw level after trailing 0-2 in the series. This is Afghanistan’s first series at their new home ground here in NOIDA, and they will be eager to continue their winning journey post the victory in the T20I series. I, Paulami Chakraborty, will bring you all the live happenings from this contest. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD, Afghanistan vs Ireland, 5th ODI at NOIDA

Ireland did not let Afghanistan take control in the fourth ODI. Kevin O’Brien was the star of the match. He bagged 4 wickets, running through Afghanistan’s heavy top-order and eventually restricting them at 220. O’Brien later scored an unbeaten 72 to emerge as the saviour, and took the side to a much needed victory. However, Afghanistan did a good job to make a comeback and put up some fight as the tail-enders held fort after the top was removed for cheaply. From 83 for 7, Mohammad Nabi, Shafiqullah Shafaq and Dawlat Zadran contributed with 40-plus scores to push the score post 200. While O’Brien was the all-round hero for Ireland, Nabi was at his usual best, picking up 4 wickets after scoring a crucial 41.
