A valiant effort from West Indies both with the bat and the ballto earn a series victory. Afghanistan never looked in the game – nor today nor in the first game. They were totaly outplayed both times and West Indies are truly the deserved winner.

  • 9:24 AM IST

That is it. West Indies have won this 2nd T20I by 29 runs and more importantly have won the series. Karim Janat tries to go down the ground but mistimes and sends the ball real high in the sky. Carlos Brathwaite runs across from mid-off and gobbles down the skier to seal an emphatic victory.

  • 9:21 AM IST

  • 9:16 AM IST

Afghanistan have lost 9th wicket. A lot fuller and straight delivery from Taylor and Dawlat Zadran attempts a slog hit. But misses the ball completely and is clean bowled.

  • 8:59 AM IST

In order to sneak one cheeky run, both runner and the batsmen ended up gathering at the striker’s end while Kesrick pikced up the ball and hit the stumps directly at the other.

All this mix up saw Shafiqullah getting run-out!

  • 8:57 AM IST

Mohammad Nabi was the first to depart who was involved in a terrible mix up with Stanikzai. One delivery later, Stanikzai too walked back after having mistimed a pull shot straight to short midwicket. And then, the latest wicket that feel was of Karim Janat.

  • 8:55 AM IST

What is happening here. West Indies are taking wickets just for fun it seems like. The Afghani batsmen seemed to have forgotten how to bat. They have lost 6 wickets in no-time and it is hardly a matter of few overs before they all get bowled out, I think.

  • 8:40 AM IST

  • 8:38 AM IST

Kesric Williams has got another one the very next ball. Again a back of length delivery from Williams which bounces tad-extra. The bounce generates a thick edge which wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton takes sharply .

  • 8:37 AM IST

Kesrick Williams gets Zadran’s wicket. It was a back of a length delivery around the leg stump which the batsmen is late and gives away an easy catch to short fine leg.

    Afghanistan are crumbling.

  • 8:34 AM IST

Afghanistan have lost their first wicket – Gulbadin Naib. Samuel Badree was hit for a xi the previous delivery but he comes with an excellent delivery. A lot quick and straighter one around the leg stump. Naib flung his bat but doesn’t make any contact and is cleaned up.

Just as I am about to publish this, Noor Ali Zadran too has walked back.

  • 8:13 AM IST

So see you on the other side in about 15 minutes when Afghanistan begin their run-chase

  • 8:13 AM IST

Afghanistan batsmen will have a litmus Test here toplay against a potent enough bowling line up and try and chase down a steep total of 113 in 15 overs. But the pressure will also be on the hosts, because the target they have set is nort a big on.So even they’ll have to be spot on not giving any margin for error .

  • 8:11 AM IST

West Indies have ended their innings at 112 for 3. They lost the only wicket of Marlon Samuels after the play resumed. Afghanistan bowlers bowled very disciplined line after the resumption not allowing the batsmen much room.

  • 7:55 AM IST

West Indies 81 for 2 in 12 overs| Marlon Samuels 20 (21), Lendl Simmons 3 (6) – With last 18 deliveries left in the innings we can now expect to see some big shost coming from both Samuels and Simmons.

  • 7:52 AM IST

So the play has finally resumed after a brief interruption for around 30 minutes. The playing conditions have bee revised and now the game will be of 15 overs each.
Moreover, one bowler will be allowed to bowl max 3 overs and the target for Afghanistan will be set using the DLS method.

  • 7:17 AM IST

There is absolutely no hope of the rainfall ceasing anytime sooner. With every passing minute, the intensity of the rainfall is increasing and the chances of play resuming are getting slim all the same.

Not sure what will be the cut-off time for the play, given its the first innings but this doesn’t look good at all.

  • 6:40 AM IST

  • 6:25 AM IST

Okay so the news is that the drizzle has now converted into a heavy rainfall and slowly and steadily we are going to start losing the overs.

  • 6:03 AM IST

It looks like a drizzle and hopefully the play should resume quite quickly without much delay.

  • 5:58 AM IST

Rain has interrupted the play and the covers are back on.

  • 5:57 AM IST

  • 5:57 AM IST

The next 5 overs will be very crucial for West Indies – kind of like a make or break situation.
If they manage to add more 40-50 runs till 15th over, they should consider themselves in a strong position. But a wicket or two here and the Caribbean side might just start faltering out of nowhere.

  • 5:55 AM IST

Since the time the spinners have come in to attack, the scoring rate has dropped down. And that was quite expected given the effectiveness the Afghan spinners boast.

  • 5:53 AM IST

<div class="liveblog-entry-text" data-original-content="West Indies 63/1 in 07 overs: Batting Evin Lewis 21 (18), Marlon Samules 9 (7)“>West Indies 78/2 in 10 overs|Batting: Marlon Samules 12 (13), Lendl Simmons 2 (2): West Indies lost Evin Lewis against the run of play. A short delivery pitched on middle and leg.He picked it up well and looked to clear midiwicket. But the connection wasn’t good enough and eventually Gulbadin Naib at deep midwicket.

  • 5:38 AM IST

  • 5:38 AM IST

West Indies 63/1 in 07 overs: Batting Evin Lewis 21 (18), Marlon Samules 9 (7)

  • 5:35 AM IST

  • 5:34 AM IST

Spinners will have a lot of work to contain the scoring and also get wickets at regular interval because this is a very strong batting line-up for the hosts.

  • 5:33 AM IST

This has been a good start from West Indies. They have looked far more optimistic than yesterday and it seems like they have come with clear intentions of scoring a big target – go all guns blzaing rather.

Also, the Afghanistan pace bowling was very poor.Their pacers banged it in short every now and then and were asking to be dispatched to the boundary rope all the time. So this has helped the hosts to score some easy boundaries.

Good Morning/Evening, سهار مو پخير! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of the second of the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series between visitors Afghanistan and hosts West Indies at the Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts on Saturday. I am Rohan Sawant, and I will be bringing to you all the live updates from this tie. Afghanistan were off to a shaky start in the tournament, having lost the opening game on Friday night by six wickets to the West Indies, as they would certainly look forward to make a comeback and level things up to stay alive in the series. Meanwhile, West Indies would be aiming for a win to seal the series. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Afghanistan vs West Indies 2017, 2nd T20I at St Kitts

On Friday, Sunil Narine snared three wickets and mesmerised Afghanistan to set up a six-wicket win for the West Indies in the first fixture of a three-match T20 International series at Warner Park in St Kitts on Friday. Having missed out on the meeting with the Afghans at 2016’s World T20 due to issues with his bowling action, the off-spinner was at his unplayable best in taking three for 11 off his four-over allotment as the visitors were dismissed for 110 batting first, as reported by AFP. “Getting back into action in West Indies colours is always an enjoyable thing. I am always trying different things with my bowling and tonight they came off pretty well,” said Narine after receiving the Man of the Match award.

“It’s always important to start with a win and we did what was required. Their tail held us up a bit and I thought we lost too many wickets, but generally it was a satisfying effort,” added the West Indies skipper Carlos Brathwaite, after the match.
