The play at the Gabba in Brisbane has been suspended for the fourth day, with New Zealand reaching 142 for 3 in chase of 504 in this opening Test of their three-match series. Latham has looked solid with the new ball and Guptill is looking circumspect. Looks like an early breakthrough is imminent. New Zealand have to bat out six sessions. Hard task on hand but if the opening partnership bats out the first hour there will be some hope for the Kiwis.

New Zealand will have to really dig in deep if they are to make something of this match but as it stands at present a defeat looks inevitable for them. Big innings will be required from the likes of Kane Williamson, Tom Latham and Brendon McCullum. Ross Taylor who looked rather ungainly in his first innings endeavour will have to redeem himself. Australia on the other hand will look to wrap this up on the Fourth Day itself on a spicy Gabba track.
