It was a near perfect day for New Zealand as Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor scored a brilliant centuries to put their team in a great position after lagging behind for most of the series until now. Kane Williamson (166) posted his second century in as many matches on the third day of the second Test against Australia at the WACA Ground on Sunday. Ross Taylor (235*) also made an unbeaten double ton after being without a century since one year. Australia are in the driver’s seat courtesy of unbeaten centuries from Steven Smith and Adam Voges. They lead New Zealand by 193 runs. Here’s our day’s report

Taylor who was 10 runs away from a triple hundred got a top-edge and was caught safely by the substitute fielder Jonny Wells at deep square leg. Taylor went on to make a century-old record. He surpassed England batsman Tip Foster’s 287 therefore becoming the highest score ever made by a visiting batsman in Australia. His incredible fight has now set the match for the Black Caps with more than a day left in the match. Day 3 will also be known as a day when records tumbled left right and center, as many as 5 record were broken or created. Mitchell Starc bowled what is believed to be the fastest ball in the history of Test cricket. Mitchell Johnson went past Brett Lee’s tally of wickets, and is behind only Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, and Dennis Lillee among Australian Test wicket-takers. David Warner scored three consecutive Test hundreds and scored the most runs in a day on Australian soil. Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson put up the highest partnership for any wicket for New Zealand against Australia. Taylor also registered the highest score by any New Zealand batsman against Australia, and is still batting.
