Greetings to one and all! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day Two of the third and final Test between Australia and West Indies at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). This is Rishad D’Souza, to be joined by Bhaskar Narayan later in the day, and we will bring live updates from this game. West Indies once again displayed a degree of uncompetitveness on the rain-affected Day 1 against Australia. After a promising second wicket stand between Kraigg Brathwaite and Darren Bravo which saw the West Indies reach lunch with 92 runs on the board for the loss of a single wicket, they again underperformed and suffered another embarrassing collapse due to careless batting. They reached stumps with a mere 207 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Australia vs West Indies 2015-16, 3rd Test at Sydney, Day 2

STUMPS!

Rain plays spoilsport, match delayed

Live Cricket Score West Indies 248/7 in 86.2 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 30(103), Kemar Roach 0(1): Kemar Roach has come to the middle after the departure of Carlos Brathwaite. Pattinson again tries a fuller ball, only this time directed to the middle stump. Roach defends it. Josh Hazelwood is bowling the next over. Ramdin picks a couple on the second ball of the 87th over. He steers the ball towards the fine leg off his pads. However, rain interrupts again. West Indies are 248 for the loss of seven wickets.

Live Cricket Score West Indies 246/7 in 85.5 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 28(101): Carlos Brathwaite is cleaned up by James Pattinson for 69. A fuller delivery swinging away and Brathwaite fails to judge it’s line and the ball hits the stumps. Brathwaite and Denesh Ramdin’s partnership fetched their team 87 runs. Brathwaite played a quick innings, almost run a ball hitting seven boundaries and four sixes. OUT! Carlos Brathwaite b James Pattinson 69(71)

Live Cricket Score West Indies 216/6 in 79 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 24(86), Carlos Brathwaite 43(45): The rain is playing it’s tricks again. After just 3.3 overs of delayed play, the rain is back and so are the covers. Groundsmen have burnt more calories than the cricketers today.

Live Cricket Score West Indies 207/6 in 75.3 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 23(75), Carlos Brathwaite 35(35): The rain returns after only three balls of the first over enough to force the players off the field. This is turning out to be a frustrating affair. The dark clouds gloom grumpily over the SCG and are playing tease with the groundsmen by opening up just minutes after they are pulling off the covers.

Australia will already be getting the strong scent of a clean sweep having beaten West Indies mercilessly in the first couple of Tests. The key for West Indies is to try and wag the tail for as long as possible so that the bowlers have something to bowl to on a seemingly flat Sydney track. There was some spin on offer but laterlal movement for fast bowlers was not a lot.

Spinners Nathan Lyon and Steven O’Keefe shared three wickets between them. Josh Hazlewood and James Pattinson got a scalp each while one wicket — that of Marlon Samuels — fell in a silly run out. As far as West Indies are concerned it was a day for the Brathwaites. Kraigg topscored with 85 while Carlos is batting undefeated at a 35-ball 35. He’ll hope to make a big partnership with Denesh Ramdin who has been short of runs for quite some time now.
