Bangladesh: 236/4 | Overs 89.5

Shakib Al Hasan 19 (53),

OUT! Mominul Haque lbw b Zulfiqar Babar 80 (162)

That’s no. 4 of the day and it’s the top-scorer as well, as Mominul is on his way back after being trapped leg-before by Babar. He goes for the review, but that does not saves him and with that wicket, it’s the end of day’s play. Read Day1 report here

Bangladesh: 217/3 | Overs 85

Mominul Haque 71 (151), Shakib Al Hasan 9 (35)

The 200 is finally up for Bangladesh as both the batsmen have batted sensibly so far and are looking to end the day on a high by sticking on at the crease and not giving the Pakistan bowlers any chance of a break through.

Bangladesh: 197/3 | Overs 80

Mominul Haque 59 (133), Shakib Al Hasan 4 (23)

Nothing much happening out there on the field except for the weather and clouds occasionally giving some chills. Both the teams continue to play slow, especially the Bangladesh batsmen who tend to be defensive and are not going for the shots at all, while Pakistan bowlers continue to bowl in good length.

Bangladesh: 191/3 | Overs 75

Mominul Haque 57 (126), Shakib Al Hasan 0 (0)

OUT! Mahmudullah c Sarfraz Ahmed b Wahab Riaz 49 (123)

GONE!!!! Mahmudullah has to depart for an unfortunate 49 as he misses his eighth half-century just by a run. An outside edge of Wahab and Sarfaraz dives to his left behind the wicket to take a good catch to dismiss him. Shakib Al Hasan comes in.

Bangladesh: 180/2 | Overs 70

Mominul Haque 52 (113), Mahmudullah 43 (106)

Another healthy five overs for Pakistan as the bowlers have bowled extremely well, while for Bangladesh, Mominul Haque has scored his eighth Test half-century.

Bangladesh: 170/2 | Overs 65

Mominul Haque 45 (10), Mahmudullah 40 (89)

Good start to the post-tea session as Bangladesh look to score quickly while Pakistan bowlers continue to bowl tight as well as Mominul approaches his half-century.

Bangladesh: 150/2 | Overs 60

Mominul Haque 35 (86), Mahmudullah 31 (66)

It’s the tea break that kicks in and it seemed to be another tight session for both the teams as just a brekthorugh for Pakistan followed by another healthy 50-run stand between the batsmen. Surely promises to be another interesting post-tea session. Read the tea report here

Bangladesh: 139/2 | Overs 55

Mominul Haque 33 (76), Mahmudullah 27 (51)

Bangladesh batsmen continue to bat sensibly throughout as they look to finish safely before the tea break, while Pakistan bowlers are hardly giving them any chance to play their shots by bowling in complete line and length.

Bangladesh: 120/2 | Overs 50

Mominul Haque 27 (65), Mahmudullah 14 (32)

Another goes five overs from Pakistan’s perspective as the bowlers in the form of Wahab Riaz and Md. Hafeez continue to bowl brilliantly, hardly giving the Bangladesh batsmen any room to play their strokes while the batsmen continue to struggle and go free flowing.

Bangladesh: 102/2 | Overs 45

Mominul Haque 17 (49), Mahmudullah 7 (18)

Md. Hafeez and Babar continue to get breakthroughs at crucial points as Bangladesh batsmen too continue to bat sensibly and go for occasional shots following Kayes’ dismissal.

Bangladesh: 93/2 | Overs 41

Mominul Haque 14 (41), Mahmudullah 1 (2)

OUT! Imrul Kayes c & b Mohammad Hafeez 51 (130)

Another good few overs from Bangladesh’s point of view as they are scoring runs quite freely as compared to the first session. However, the 41st over was interesting as Imrul Kayes, right after scoring his second ODI half-century was dismissed the next ball off Md. Hafeez after being caught by himself. Mahmudullah is the new man in.

Bangladesh: 76/1 | Overs 35

Imrul Kayes 41 (111), Mominul Haque 8 (26)

The post lunch session starts off sensibly as both the batsmen seem to open up their batting and go for the shots in order to steer the innings after having read the wicket,n which has hardly anything for the bowlers as of now. Junaid and Yasir are continuing the bowling attack.

Bangladesh: 60/1 | Overs 30

Imrul Kayes 35 (104), Mominul Haque 0 (2)

So, the lunch hour has ticked in it has been quite a close performance so far from both the teams as bangladesh have batted quite well, and so did the Pakistan team who have bowled well as well. let’s see what happens in the post-lunch session. Read the lunch report here

Bangladesh: 52/1 | Overs 27

Imrul Kayes 22 (84), Mominul Haque 0 (0)

OUT! Tamim Iqbal c Azhar Ali b Yasir Shah 25 (74)

Finally, a break-through for Pakistan, the first of the innings and match, just as the 50-run stand was up for Bangladesh, Tamim Iqbal is caught by Azhar Ali off Yasir at short leg. A close no-ball call, but the third umpire decides to go with the bowling side.

Bangladesh: 43/0 | Overs 25

Tamim Iqbal 21 (66), Imrul Kayes 22 (84)

The same story continues for the next five overs as well, while Pakistan skiupper, Misbah-ul-Haq has gone for a change and has brought in leg-spinner, Yasir Shah as he finishes the 25th overs for a couple.

Bangladesh: 34/0 | Overs 20

Tamim Iqbal 17 (47), Imrul Kayes 17 (73)

Both the bowlers continue the same story and bowl in good line and length as the openers are looking to go for the shots in order to increase the pace of the game, but are unable to do so owing to some good bowling.

Bangladesh: 23/0 | Overs 15

Tamim Iqbal 11 (34), Imrul Kayes 12 (56)

Another good five overs from Pakistan bowlers as it’s Mohammad Hafeez and Zulfiqur Babar who are bowling now and the Bangladesh opener continue to bat sensibly, without taking any undue risks.

Bangladesh: 14/0 | Overs 10

Tamim Iqbal 4 (21), Imrul Kayes 10 (39)

Both the bowlers continue to bowl in good line and length as Bangladesh openers continue to play slow and steady with nothing interesting developing so far. Rain clouds are hovering along with mild drizzle which is surely not to effect the match much. Imrul also hits the first boundary of the innings off Junaid in the ninth over.

Bangladesh: 8/0 | Overs 5

Tamim Iqbal 4 (14), Imrul Kayes 4 (16)

Junaid Khan and Wahab Riaz are taking care of the bowling attack from Pakistan at present as the Bangladesh openers are off to a slow start and are playing sensibly by not going for any undue risks or ambitious shots from the start. Pakistan have had their 1 review gone unsuccessful in the opening over on Imrul Kayes for leg before.

Bangladesh: 1/0 | Overs 1

Tamim Iqbal 1 (1), Imrul Kayes 0 (5)

Junaid Khan starts off with a single to Tamim Iqbal, followed by five dots to end the over.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of Day One  of the First Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Khulna. I am Ayush Gupta and I will bring you all the updates from the day’s play.

Bangladesh take on Pakistan in the first Test at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Khulna. Bangladesh are on a high after they whitewashed Pakistan in the three On-Day International (ODI) series and followed it up with a comprehensive win in the one-off T20I as well. Many former players including Rameez Raja and Imran Khan have called it the lowest point in Pakistan’s international stay. Bangladesh vs Pakistan, 1st Test at Khulna Preview

Pakistan have a much better squad in the Tests than the shorter formats. Misbah-ul-Haq, who had recently retired from ODIs following Pakistan’s exit in the quarter-final stage, will lead the Pakistan side. Pakistan have an excellent variety of spinners at their disposal as Saeed Ajmal, Zulfiqur Babar and Yasir Shah have found a place in the side. The part-time off spin of Mohammad Hafeez too could come in handy. It will be interesting to see if Pakistan pick just one spinner or two spinners in their playing XI. Sami Aslam and Babar Azam are the two new faces for Pakistan. Live Scorecard: Bangladesh vs Pakistan, 1st Test, Day 1 at Khulna

Bangladesh will be led by wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim. He has been in rich form with the bat of late. Litton Das and Mohammad Shahid are the new comers in the Bangladeshi squad. Bangladesh too look like a balanced side, but they will hope that they do not get complacent going into the Test series. This is a good chance for Pakistan to somehow redeem themselves. Have Bangladesh conquered their fear of losing?

Squads:

Bangladesh: Mushfiqur Rahim (c & wk), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Litton Das, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Mahmudullah, Shuvagata Hom, Soumya Sarkar, Taijul Islam, Jubair Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, Mohammad Shahid.

Pakistan: Misbah-ul-Haq (c), Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Sami Aslam, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Haris Sohail, Saeed Ajmal, Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Sohail Khan, Rahat Ali.
