It’s lunch at Galle: 50-run partnership up between Mushfiqur and Liton now and Bangladesh now have something to look forward to for at least a draw. But the batsmen will have to survive two more sessions for that, which looks very tough looking at how the Lankan spinners are producing turns.

150 up for Bangladesh! Litton Das helping skipper Mushfiqur Rahim to build a big partnership. After losing 5 wickets in quick succession, the two have provided some solidity to the innings now.

LOUD APPEAL! Herath is pretty sure of it and takes a review. Replay shows there being an edge. Also, the ball was going down the leg. Review wasted, umpire’s decision prevails.

Herath turning the match! Rangana Herath, the master is at his best. Removes both Shakib and Mahmudullah. A brilliant catch taken by Dimuth Karunaratne who dives at leg slip to hold on to the ball and send Shakib back for 19. Mahmudullah departs for a duck. Herath now equals Daniel Vettori’s records for most Test wickets as a left-arm spinner, with 362 career wickets.

Hello, good morning, nomoshkar, and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates’ post of the fifth and final day’s play between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The opening Test of the two-match series is being played at the Galle International Stadium, and this is Paulami Chakraborty bringing you the live cricket scores and updates. Expectedly, Sri Lanka have landed themselves in a commanding position in this Test, putting up a massive 457-run target against Bangladesh. The visitors, however, have been able to keep the Sri Lankans at bay, reaching 67 for no loss on the rain-truncated fourth day of the opening Test in which they have fought well in patches. Bangladesh, for what it is worth, need another 390 runs to win. Full Cricket Scorecard: Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test at Galle

Bangladesh have so far batted for 15 overs and have rubbed off 67 runs from Sri Lanka’s grand total. Soumya Sarkar has struck a rapid half-century as he has reached 53 off 47 balls with 6 fours, and surprisingly, his more aggressive partner, Tamim Iqbal has assumed a sedate role with 13 from 44 balls with 1 four. Sri Lanka had declared their second innings at 274 for 6, with Upul Tharanga scoring a fine 115 and Dinesh Chandimal getting a half-century. BAN vs SL, 1st Test, Day 5 Preview

Sri Lanka batsmen continued to make merry against the Bangladeshi bowlers in the second innings as well. In the first innings, Sri Lanka had scored 494 with Kusal Mendis getting 194, whereas three other batsmen — Asela Gunaratne (85), Niroshan Dickwella (75) and Dilruwan Perera (51) — got half-centuries. Mehedi Hasan Miraz was the pick among the bowlers for Bangladesh with 4 for 113. Visitors make positive start; hosts 10 wickets away from win

Mehedi continued to impress in his first match in Sri Lanka, as he grabbed 2 for 77 in 20 overs, accounting for Tharanga and Dickwella. Shakib Al Hasan was also among wickets, with 2 for 104 from 25 overs. Going into the final day Bangladesh will face a stern challenge to bat out the 90 overs (in addition to the 30 minutes that will be added to make up for lost time) on a wicket which has not crumbled so far, but it will not be easy as the Sri Lankan bowlers will be at prey.
