LIVE: Sri Lanka 321/4 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 166, Niroshan Dickwella 14: It’s stumps! Sri Lanka cameback strong with Asela Gunaratne and Kusla Mendis playing commendable knocks. Taskin got rid of Gunaratne but Mendis is still at the crease. Bangladesh’s aim on Day 2 will be to restrict the hosts as early as possible, getting Mendis out.

LIVE: Sri Lanka 287/3 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 150, Asela Gunaratne 85:150 comes up for Mendis, a brilliant knock from the batsman. But credit has to be given to Gunaratne as well, who played the perfect partners at the other end. Things will get tougher for Bangladesh with only two specialist spinners and the pitch deteriorating quickly.

LIVE: Sri Lanka 266/3 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 136, Asela Gunaratne 79: A huge partnership between Gunaratne and Mendis now which has put the Bangladesh bowlers under pressure. Bangladesh need wickets and that is the only thing that can save the day for them. 150-run partnership between the two, and the first six of the innings off Mendis’ bat. Too many errors by the fielders.

LIVE: Sri Lanka 155/3 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 80, Asela Gunaratne 26: It’s tea! The difference between the top-order and the middle-order is the footwork. Mendis has improved his footwork and looks a lot more comfortable shuffling across. Gunaratne has been very mobile at the crease, going at backfoot, making room to hit boundaries. Frequent boundaries have also helped reduce the pressure. 63-run partnership between the two at tea.

  • 2:21 PM IST

LIVE: Sri Lanka 124/3 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 62, Asela Gunaratne 15: A brilliant knock coming from Mendis. Kept his calm amidst fall of wickets and has held the innings single-handedly. Gets to his fifty. Gunaratne on the other hand, has played a few attractive shots already.

LIVE: Sri Lanka 96/3 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 45, Asela Gunaratne 4: BIG, BIG WICKET! Chandimal departs for 5. The Bangladesh bowlers managed to frustrate the big man by restricting the runs, be it single or boundary. Credit goes to Mushfiqur’s captaincy. Fooled by the famous off-cutter, gives a catch to Mehedi at gully. Gunaratne immediately releases the pressure hitting a four.
OUT! Dinesh Chandimal c Mehedi Hasan b Mustafizur Rahman 5 (54)

LIVE: Sri Lanka 86/2 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 41, Dinesh Chandimal 3: To Bangladesh’s credit, they have kept the runrate under control. Early wickets have put on pressure on the hosts. Sri Lanka need boundaries more frequently. They need more singles as well. A boundary comes as I type, Mendis cuts through point.

OUT! Dimuth Karunaratne b Mehedi Hasan Miraz 30 (76)

  • 11:55 AM IST

LIVE: Sri Lanka 60/1 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 19, Dimuth Karunaratne 30: Almost got the outside edge off Mendis there, Subhashis. Beautifully bowled, getting good seam movement. Pitching at good length and got the ball away from Mendis this time. Lack of footwork from Mendis though.

  • 11:48 AM IST

LIVE: Sri Lanka 54/1 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 16, Dimuth Karunaratne 27: Bangladesh introduce spin and it is Mehedi Hasan and not Shakib. 50 is up for Sri Lanka and a partnership is building between the two at the crease.

LIVE: Sri Lanka 39/1 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 8, Dimuth Karunaratne 20: An appeal after long, Mustafizur thinks he has got something there. Missing the stumps. ‘Slow track’, opines my colleague Kaustubh Mayekar, who is in for the India match. Quick update from that, India lead Australia by 187 runs.
Meanwhile, another appeal, this time from Taskin. It is very high, hits the batsman over thigh guard.

  • 11:08 AM IST

LIVE: Sri Lanka 30/1 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 7, Dimuth Karunaratne 17: Taskin playing with the pace. However, too many short balls will reduce the impact. Subhasis also mixed in a few bouncers as surprise element. Boundary, reduces the pressure. Mendis plays it fine. It is drinks.

  • 10:55 AM IST

LIVE: Sri Lanka 26/1 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 3, Dimuth Karunaratne 17: Mustafizur yet to find the right length. None of the batsmen taking risks with Subhasis, leaving the ones they are not sure about. Most of Karunaratne’s recent dismissals were lbws, Mustafizur might want to bowl a bit more closer to the stumps.

  • 10:49 AM IST

LIVE: Sri Lanka 22/1 vs Bangladesh | Kusal Mendis 0, Dimuth Karunaratne 16: That spell explains WHY Subhasis has beenpicked. Exceptionally good seam-position and consistent with it, Subhasis gets Bangladesh the first breakthrough. Got it in from off-stump and the ball hits the stump as Tharanga misses. Hat-trick chance off the next as Kusal Mendis edges it to Litton Das. But it is a no ball for over-stepping.
OUT! Upul Tharanga b Subashis Roy 4 (14)

  • 10:22 AM IST

With regulars Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, Subhasis Roy has been included. So far, Mushfiqur has used Taskin and Mustafizur. Some impressive deliveries from Taskin. Decent start by the Lankan openers.
