After Sri Lankan veteran batsman Kumar Sangakkara, essayed knock of 319 to take them to a position of strength against Bangladesh, they will look for quick wickets on the third day of the second Test at Chittagong. Bangladesh ended the day’s play at 86 for the loss of one wicket.

Sangakkara’s masterful triple century saw Sri Lanka take complete control of the proceedings on the second day. Mahela Jayawardene may have missed a ton of his own but he did play the supporting role to perfection.

The spin-heavy Bangladesh attack couldn’t make early inroads into Sri Lanka’s batting line-up on the second day. Shakib Al Hasan was the stand-out bowler with five wickets to his name.

Brief scores:

Sri Lanka 587 (Kumar Sangakkara 319, Mahela Jayawardene 72, Ajantha Mendis 47; Shakib Al Hasan 5 for 148) vs Bangladesh 86 for 1 (Shamsur Rahman 45*; Suranga Lakmal 1 for 18).
