Well, we now have the Test series levelled 1-1 and the ODI series ending with the same 1-1 scoreline as well. Over to the T20Is now, which may determine the winner from this tour.
Presentation ceremony commences:
Kulasekara returned to wrap up the Bangladesh innings. All he needed was just three balls to snatch the last two Bangladesh wickets and script his side’s coming-from-behind win.
Sri Lankan players as well as fans will also like to thank the rain
gods, in addition to Thisara Perera, Kusal Mendis and the bowlers, for
not interrupting the match. The hosts were robbed off a potential win in
Dambulla in the 2nd ODI after putting up 311 runs on the board batting
first. That’s it, it’s all over! Sri Lanka have bowled out Bangladesh for 210 in reply to their 280 for 9 and won the match by 70 runs. The three match series ends at scoreline of 1-1, with one ODI being washed out and one each from the remaining two won by both the sides.
OUT! Mehedi Hasan c Tharanga b Kulasekara 51(71)
OUT! Taskin Ahmed c Gunaratne b Kulasekara 14(27)
Mehedi Hasan scores his maiden fifty in ODIs in his 1st ODI innings. Playing his 3rd game, he batted for the 1st time in 3rd #SLvBAN ODI.

UPDATE: Mehedi hasan has scored his maiden ODI fifty in his first ODI innings.
Bangladesh 179/8 in 39 overs. Mehedi 24*, Taskin 4*. Bangladesh are crawling now, with an inevitable loss staring at them. Mehedi and Taskin are only delaying the impending defeat and getting the margin of the loss down. Sri Lanka would be happy with this effort. After all, they have managed to avoid the first series loss at the hands of Bangladesh at home.
Bangladesh have lost the skipper now and looks like only the formalities are left to be done. Mortaza has perished after a patient 16, handing a simple return catch to Prasanna. There was always a threat he could start hammering at any moment. But luckily for the hosts, he has perished before that moment. Bangladesh are 155/8 in the 34th over.
Taskin joins Mehedi.
OUT! Mashrafe Mortaza c & b Seekkuge Prasanna 16(23)
The commentator’s jinx, perhaps. Just as I said Mahmudullah and Mehedi need to bat long to make a match out of it, he has been dismissed by Lakmal. A bouncer going down the leg side should have been left alone by him. But instead, he went for a pull and ended up giving a faint edge to the ball on its way to the keeper. It’ all but over now. Mahmudullah, who went out of favour in Tests recently, perhaps may see his spot in trouble in LOIs as well.
Over to the charismatic skipper Mortaza, who can use the long handle well.
OUT! Mahmudullah c Chandimal b Lakmal 7(9)
Bangladesh 123/6 in 25 overs. Mahmudullah 6*, Mehedi 3*. Bangladesh have completely lost the plot here. After losing early wickets, they did come back into the game. But the wickets of Sarkar and Shakib have hurt their chances severely. It is up to Mahmudullah and Mehedi, their last batting pair, to make a match out of it.
Big, big wicket, this! Bangladesh’s biggest hope Shakib Al Hasan has gone. Got a full delivery on the off stump and he drove it straight to Gunathilaka. Match all but over for Bangladesh. Though Mehedi can bat well, the task at hand looks well beyond his reach. He has joined Mahmudullah. Bangladesh need these two to play innings of their lives to script a fairytale comeback and historic series win.
OUT! Shakib Al Hasan c Gunathilaka b Dilruwan Perera 54 (62)
Bowled’em! Mossadek Hossain has been cleaned up by Seekkuge Prasanna! It was flat and quick from Prasanna and Mossadek tries to cut the ball going on back-foot. But the ball just whizzes off after pitching and the batsman is in no position to play the shot. Ball meanwhile rattles the top of middle-stump!
34th ODI fifty for Shakib Al Hasan off 55 deliveries. He has been constantly at one end and has not flinched despite losing Soumya Sarkar at the other end few overs back. There’s still a plenty of work to be done for Bangladesh here, but if Shakib bats the same way, Bangladesh might just edge ahead of Sri Lanka.
OUT! Soumya Sarkar has been stumped
Dilruwan Perera conceded 20 runs in the 10th over. Runs are coming thick and fast for Bangladesh. Also, Shakib and Soumya Sarkar have constructed a 50-run stand in just 42 deliveries. Good batting display from Bangladesh!
Bangladesh 40/3 in 9 overs. Shakib 18*, Sarkar 18*. Both the batsmen are batting on identical individual score at the moment. They are slowly rebuilding the innings, which is the need of the hour. After losing three top batsmen for 11, Bangladesh needed two calm minds in the middle. While Sarkar has exactly been the same, Shakib has had his moments of nerves. But that’s how he plays his game, on the edge. The visitors would want to have these two together in the middle for a long time, so that the ones to follow can finish it off.
A golden duck for Rahim, as he falls to Suranga Lakmal. The ball pitched just outside off but came in and was hitting the top of middle stump. Rahim took a review but to no avail. It is left to Shakib Al Hasan, their most decorated player and star batsman, to bail them out. They are 15/3 in the 5th over, Sarkar 8*, Shakib 3*.
OUT! Mushfiqur Rahim lbw b Lakmal 0(1)
Another crucial blow to Bangladesh’s hopes of winning the series. They have now lost Sabbir, who scored a fifty in the first ODI but perishes for a duck today. He tried to chase a widish delivery from Kula but ended up giving a simple catch to Chandimal.
Mushfiqur Rahim has now joined Soumya Sarkar.
OUT! Sabbir Rahman c Chandimal b Kulasekara 0(3)
Bangladesh have got a massive blow early on in the chase of 281, as they have lost the hero of the first ODI, Tamim Iqbal, for 4. Tamim’s 100 was a key reason why Bangladesh won the first game. But today, he perished in the first over. There was a suspense on whether Kulasekera took the catch fair and the tv umpire had a good look at it. The bowler threw the ball early in the air in order to celebrate and that was the reason umpire took his time. It was adjudged out in the end and Tamim walked off.
Sabbir Rahman has now joined Soumya Sarkar.
Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog post of the third and final ODI of the ongoing series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The match will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo. Bangladesh are leading the series 1-0, since the second ODI got abandoned due to rain. This also means that Bangladesh cannot lose the series, and Sri Lanka will actually have to win the match to level the series. The onus will be on Sri Lanka to save the series with a victory in the do-or-die match, while Bangladesh will look to continue their winning streak, creating history with their first ever ODI series win in Sri Lanka. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI at Colombo
Sri Lanka put up a great fight in the second ODI, putting up 311 runs in the first innings. A chunk of these runs came from skipper Upul Tharanga and Kusal Mendis. While Tharanga scored 65 runs, Mendis’ century was the biggest contribution to the team’s score. The Sri Lanka middle-order failed to perform, but it did not matter, since they had already put up good runs on the board. It took the Bangladesh bowlers took a lot of time to break the Tharanga-Mendis partnership. However, Taskin Ahmed put up a brilliant performance with the ball, picking up 4 wickets at an economy of 5.32 including a hat-trick to finish Sri Lanka’s innings. He became the fifth Bangladesh bowler to do so.
Rain stopped any further play in the match, and Sri Lanka did not get a chance to defend the runs and draw level. Bangladesh had earlier taken the lead in the series, winning the series opener by a comfortable margin of 90 runs. Tamim Iqbal scored an attractive century and Sabbir Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan got half-centuries to push Bangladesh to 324 for 5. They defended the total as both Mashrafe Mortaza and Mehedi Hasan Miraz bagged a couple of wickets each and Mustafizur Rahman picked up 3.
