Catch Live Scorecard of Bangladesh (BAN) vs Zimbabwe (ZIM) 1st Test here

(Zimbabwe look to build on after reducing deficit to only 14 runs. Catch live cricket score and live updates of the match here)

Taijul hits the winning runs. Pulls it for four and the team is off to celebrate. What a match this has been. Finished inside three days but neither of the two had an upper-hand all through.

Bangladesh need four runs to win. Mushfqur to take strike.

93 for seven. Eight runs needed. Nervous moments for both teams. Bangladesh hold the advantage with Mushfiqur still there.

What an over that one from Chatara. Four dot balls. Taijul flicks one off his legs for a couple and then drives one for a four. Target down to 11.

Another tense over goes by. After five dot balls, Panyangara digs one short. Mushfiqur doesn’t go after that one. Taijul to face the next over.

Bangladesh 84/ 7 29 overs

Who’s going to win? Medium pacers are bowling well. Rahim has to farm the strike as Taijul appears uncertain. The Bangladeshi fans look very nervous.

Bangladesh 83/ 7 |28 0vers

A real tight encounter now. Zimbabwe have fought tooth and nail. All rests in Rahim now. Can the hero of the day Taijul Islam starr wit h the bat.

S Hossain c Taylor   b Panyangara 11

Well Zimbabwe keep clawing back. The third umpire rules Hossain out. Taylor takes a very good low catch. It’s becoming really tight.

Bangladesh 72/6   25 overs

Rahim’s is playing in a composed manner,  he keeps picking off the singles. The spinner Kamungozi does not seem to be making much of an impression. Maybe Taylor could bring on another medium pacer.

Bangladesh 68/6 23 overs

Fantastic show by Elton Chigumbura– four wickets for 12. Hossain appears very uncertain when playing him. Rahim will have to farm the strike here.

Bangladesh 64/6     22 overs

A close match now. A lot lies on skipper Rahim to win the game for his side. Bowlers are making it very hard for the hosts now. He has Shahadat Hossain with him.

S Hom c Chakbava   b Chigumbura 0

A waft outside the off-stump and a brilliant diving catch by the keeper Chakbava. Zimbabwe are definitely not out of this one. Stupendous bowling by Chigumbura.

Mahmudullah   b Chigumbura 28

Zimbabwe have struck immediately. They keep fighting back. A loose shot by the batsman as he inside edges it onto his stump. Bangladesh fans would be nervous again.

The players have come back again. Zimbabwe need to summon more hidden reserves if they are to pull this one off.

Bangladesh are 62 for 4 at tea. They need 39 more runs.

Bangladesh 54/4 | 14 overs

Bangladesh are still not out of the woods. Shakib’s dismissal has brought skipper Mushfiqur Rahman in. He’s started off with two fours.

Just when bangladesh thought they could breathe here Zimbabwe get lynchpin Shakib out. He edges an outswinger off Chatara to second slip. If Zimbabwe defend this, this will be the  third lowest total ever defended.

Bangladesh 30/3 | 11 overs

The Zimbabwe bowlers are running in and hitting the deck but both the batsman, Shakib and Mahmudullah, are batting well. Furthermore they hae kept he scoreboard ticking.

Bangladesh 11/3 | 7 overs

Another dropped chance, a relatively easy one, Zimbabwe would hope these do not come back to haunt them afterwards. Bangladesh fans would breathe a sigh of relief.

Bangladesh 5/3 | 6 overs

Zimbabwe are making it very hard for the home team. Scoring is not easy. Shakib survived a dropped chance. A very tough one but it may prove crucial.

Bangladesh 1/3 | 5 overs

Terrible terrible start. Shakib Al Hasan gets them off the mark. Bangledesh fans would be hoping their star-allrounder can get them out this trough.

Monimul  c and b Panyangara 0 (1)

Chigumbura on a roll. A poor shot by the batsman. Zimbabwe on a roll. The game’s not yet over. A close game in the offing?

Shamsur Rahman  b Panyangara 0 (12)

Another one gone and not even a run on the board. Panyangara has him inside edge one. Zimbabwe looking very dangerous.

Bangladesh 0 for one | 3 overs

Not a good start at all. Bangladesh fans would be hoping they will be no more alarms. Zimbabwe will look to put up a fight. Good tight bowling.

Tamim Iqbal c Taylor b Chigumbura 0 (8)

Bangladesh rocked straightaway. Zimbabwe are not out of this one it seems. Iqbal could only edge the outswinger from Chigumbura to slip. A poor start.

Zimbabwe are all out for a mere 114 which leaves them with a lead of exactly 100. Barring some abysmal batting and superb bowling the hosts should win this one. This is the first time that a Bangladeshi bowler has taken eight wickets in one innings. Skipper Brendan Taylor carried his bat with 45. He was looking good but his team came a cropper against what ever Taijul threw at them. Some of the strokeplay also left a lot to be desired.

Zimbabwe 114 all out

T Kamungozi c Mushfiqur b Islam 0 (1)

The tailender pushed at a ball turning toward the off-stump and as the keeper safely pouches it. Taijul will be on a hattrick the next time he bowls.

T Chaitara  lbw Islam 4 (6)

He was no match for the spinner as he was trapped plumb in front. It’s only a matter of time before Taylor;s team folds up. HE’s perhaps has to chance his armnow.

T Panyangara  c Shamsur Rahman b Islam 0 (17)

It was a matter of time before he got out. The batsman could only edge it to slip as Rahman safely pouched the catch. The writing is on the wall for the  tourists.

Zimbabwe 104/7 | Overs 32

Play has resumed after lunch. Zimbabwe have reached their hundred but it would require something monumental from Brendan Taylor to get them out of this hole.

Zimbabwe 94/7 | Overs 30

Bangladesh are lording it over the tourists now. Skipper Taylor is batting with the tail now. With both Islam and Shakib bowling in tandem, it looks increasingly tough for the tourists to survive. It’s lunch now.

John Nyumbu c  Mushfiqur Rahman b Shakib 1

They are falling like ninepins. It’s Shakib’s turn now. The delivery had some flight and it lured Nyumbu who played and could edge it to the keeper.

C Ervine c  lbw Islam 10 (14)

Islam claims his fifth. Ervine played back to one he should have been playing forward to, furthermore the ball did not bounce. He reviewed it but it was to no avail.

The first hour is over. It’s been all Bangladesh so far. The tourists now need to apply themselves and somehow keep the Bangladeshi attack at bay. It, however, wil be an extremely hard task with Islam and Shakib turning the ball a mile. A lot depends on their skipper Taylor. The fall of wickets has not seen him go into a shell. Some of the batsman, however, like Sikandar Raza have been guilty of injudicuous strokeplay.

Zimbabwe 86/5 | Overs 25

Brendan Taylor seems to be in good form. He’s scoring freely. The tourists are in dire need of a captain’s innings by him.

Zimbabwe 63/5 | Overs 21

Bangladesh thanks to their left-arm spinner are in the ascendancy.

E Chigumbura c S Hom b Islam 0 (2)

Islam is on a roll, this one here is a crucial wicket.

R Chakbava   c S Rahman b Islam 10 (51)

Another one perishes. Zimbabwe are in some strife now.

S Raza  c Shakib b Islam 25 (32)

Raza tries to hit his third six in a row but unfortunately can hit it to point only.

Zimbabwe 32/2 | Overs 15

Regis Chakabva 8(39), Sikandar Raza 5(23)

OUT!!!!!!!!!! The second wicket of the day goes down for Zimbabwe and it’s Masakadza who has to depart early for a cheap five off just seven bowls. Shahadat Hossain calims his wicket as he bowls his off stump over.
H Masakadza 5(7) b Shahadat Hossain

First breakthrough for Bangladesh. Taijul Islam beats Sibanda in his forward defence as the ball turns and kisses the edge before landing comfortably in to Mushfiqur’s gloves.
V Sibanda c Rahim b Islam 14(22)

Shahadat Hossain started off the proceedings. Chakabva picks a single on the second ball. Sibanda defends the first ball he faced this morning and the next one was pitched up, the batsman hammered it straight past for four. Taijul Islam from the other end starts with a maiden over.

Zimbabawe did a fine job with the ball by keeping Bangladesh down to 254 and thereby conceding a slender lead of 14 runs. Welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the third day’s proceedings of the first Test between Zimbabawe and Bangladesh, I am Indrajit Datta and I will be bringing the live updates of the match.

They could only manage a slim 14-run lead due to an excellent display of pace bowling by Tinashe Panyangara who bagged a career-best five for 59. Zimbabwe comfortably managed to survive the remaining two overs of the day scoring five runs. A lot depends on how they tackle Bangladesh’s spin attack in the second innings.

Sikandar Raza was the key batsman in the first innings being the only one from his team to cross 50 runs. The pitch has shown enough turn and like a typical subcontinent wicket, it will only get worse and bring spinners in to play as the day progresses. Bangladesh had three half-centurions in Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim. But, the rest of the batting just fell apart.
