Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the first T20 International (T20I) between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at Khulna. I am Bhaskar Narayan and I will be bringing you the live updates of the match. Zimbabwe recently suffered a 2-0 whitewash at the hands of associate nation Afghanistan in the recent T20I series played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They will look to get off to a winning start against Bangladesh team, who are currently high on confidence. Bangladesh had a fantastic 2015 and will want to begin 2016 on a winning note in their own backyard. Bangladesh have a couple of new faces in their squads but they also have the experience, which enables them to put up a good fight against any team in the world. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Bangladesh 166/6 | Overs 18.4 | Target 164 | Shakib Al Hasan 20(13), Nurul Hasan 7(5) |Shakib hits Jongwe for two consecutive boundaries bringing Bangladesh very close to their target. They now need  only four runs to win. Jongwe bowls five wides on a trot gifting Bangladesh a four-wicket victory with eight balls remaining.

Wellington Masakadza bowled outside off. Again it was a fuller ball and Mushfiqur attempts a sweep but the ball does not hit the middle of his bat and soars high into the air. Cremer bowled a fuller ball outside the off stump. Shabbir uses all his strength but is not able to get his timing right. Waller takes an easy catch at deep mid-wicket. It is a good strategy by Bangladesh, rotating the strike along with hitting fours on lose deliveries. They require 62 more runs from here onwards in 42 balls with seven wickets remaining.

He gets a life on the last ball of the over. Sabbir gets down the track and slogs the ball towards mid-on but Sibanda makes a mess of it.

First one was executed through a pull shot whereas the next was cut brilliantly towards the covers.

A great cover drive, Bangladesh needs more of these. They now require 124 runs off 91 balls to win the match with nine wickets in hand.

Raza pitches a short delivery and Tamim pulls it well for maximum.

He bowls a tight second over of the innings giving just three runs; one of which was a leg bye. Bangladesh now requires 154 runs from 108 balls to win the match.

Zimbabwe batsmen need to improve their running between the wickets. Masakadza too gets run out. It’s a big wicket for Bangladesh and could this be the turning point of the match. OUT! Malcom Waller is the new man at the crease after the fall of Sibanda. 11 runs come off Mashrafe Mortaza’s over, 13th over of the innings. Zimbabwe will continue to keep the scoring at the same rate; not many overs are left to be bowled.

Shakib bowled a flighted ball towards the middle stump. It was a fuller delivery and Sibanda took full advantage of it by hitting it over wide long-on for maximum.

It is a quiet over with just a boundary and a single coming off it. Zimbabwe are now 26 for no loss at the end of four overs. It is a slow and steady start for Zimbabwe.

He almost leaps outside the crease and lofts Mortaza’s first ball over mid-on for four. The next ball is thumped over mid-wicket, four more! A single off the fourth ball. Sibanda gives the strike back, and Masakadza goes after the last ball. Not timed well, but still a four through mid-off!

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Zimbabwe 7/o | Overs 2 | Vusimuzi Sibanda 6(10), Hamilton Masakadza 1(2) | Al-Amin Hossain shares the new ball. Masakadza is off the mark off the second ball, sweeping him. Sibanda slams the fifth ball for the first four of the series, lovely shot past point. Nice comeback by Al-Amin, rapping Sibanda on the pad, stifled appeal.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Zimbabwe 2/o | Overs 1 | Vusimuzi Sibanda 2(6), Hamilton Masakadza 0(0) | Steady bowling by Mashrafe Mortaza. He was bang on target, bowling to an excellent length. Vusi got his couple off the fifth ball with a flick to mid-wicket. The last ball was an excellent slower delivery.

Many new stars arose from the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Nurul Hasan and Abu Haider performed well in the tournament and find themselves in the squad and could make their debut today. Bangladesh will be led by the experienced Mashrafe Mortaza, who has taken this team to new heights in the recent past. Zimbabwe, on the other hand have a lot of problems of their own to address. They have been extremely inconsistent and hence find themselves in a mess now. Brian Vitori and Vusi Sibanda return to the squad ,but strangely Tinashe Panyangara and Sean Williams miss out. Hamiltom Masakadza has been in top form of late and he will need the other batsmen to step up and deliver as well. This four-match series is the longest T20I series to be played in Bangladesh. The last time these two sides met was in a two-match series, which ended at 1-1.
