Comilla Victorians who are the champions of the last year’s edition of Bangladesh Premier League had a bad start to their BPL campaign as they lost the opening match of this year’s edition against the Chittagong Vikings by 29 runs. The Victorians opted to bowl first and leaked runs heavily as they let their opposition score 161 runs as opener Tamim Iqbal and Shoaib Malik scored 54 and 42* to help their side mount a dominating total. Following the target of 162, the Comilla Victorians could only manage to score 123 for the loss of 8 wickets in the 20 overs as Mohammad Nabi from the Vikings spun through their Victorians’ batting line-up and ended with impressive figures of 4 for 24 in 4 overs.

On the other hand, the Mushfiqur Rahim lead Barisal Bulls played their opening match against Dhaka Dynamites which is being helmed by Shakib Al Hasan. The Dynamites won the toss and opted to bowl first and stopped their opponent Barisal Bulls for a decent total of 148 for the loss of six wickets. Mohammad Shahid was the best bowler for the Dynamites as he finished with the figures of 3 for 21. In reply to the target of 149 set by the Bulls, The Dynamites started off impressively as their openers Kumar Sangakkara and Mehedi Maruf single handedly took the match away from them. Maruf was the top scorer of the match as he scored 75 runs from 45 balls to see his side earn an easy victory of 8 wickets.

Both Barisal Bulls and Comilla Victorians have big players in their squad and each and every player from both teams will be eager to register their first win in the tournament and up their morale and confidence which will be very important for them with context to the tough format of the game.
