Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day 4 of the Group A game of the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy between Bengal and Rajasthan, live from Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The match has been marred by rainfall and it doesn’t seem like the final day of the match is going to be any different. The final T20 International (T20I) between India and South Africa too was called off due to rain and wet  outfield. Bengal still trail Rajasthan by 62 runs and they will first want to wipe off the deficit to win by having a first innings lead. Rajasthan will have only themselves to blame as they got a very less total in their first innings. READ: Ranji Trophy 2015-16: Bengal in hunt for first-innings lead on Day 3 against Rajasthan

Bengal are in the driving seat in this match despite of the rains as Pragyan Ojha was lethal with the ball taking three wickets in his 22 overs while conceding a mere 22 runs. His spell even included eight maidens as the Rajasthan batsmen looked to play him out with added caution. Ashok Dinda and Pratap Singh took one wicket each.

Live cricket scores Rajasthan 198 & 146/5 | Bengal 282 | Overs 57| Batting: DH Yagnik 1(9), Ashok Menaria 69(174): AR Gupta gets out on 12. He is caught by Manoj Tiwary of the bowling of Aamir Gani. Match has ended in a draw. Bengal gets three points since they took a first innings lead. On the other hand, Rajasthan get one point. Manoj Tiwary was the highest run scorer in a single innings of the match. He made 83 in the second innings of the match. Ashok Menari made 109 runs in the match, he made 40 in the first innings and was not out on 69 at the close of play today in Rajasthan’s second innings; thus he was the highest run scorer of the match and since he remained unbeaten on 69 in Rajasthan’s second innings he also had the highest batting average. Talking of the bowlers, there was no individual bowler who stood out. No bowler from any of the teams took five wickets in the match. Pragyan Ojha took four wickets in the first innings but could not get any in the second. Ashok Dinda also took four wickets— two wickets each in both the innings while Rajasthan bowler AB Singh picked three wickets. OUT! AR Gupta c Manoj Tiwary b Aamir Gani 12(42)

Live cricket scores Rajasthan 198 & 140/4 | Bengal 282 | Overs 53| Batting: AR Gupta 12(41), Ashok Menaria 65(160): Rajasthan lose their fourth wicket PR Yadav. Yadav was caught by Sudip Chatterjee on the bowling of Manoj Tiwary. He made 33 runs. At present AR Gupta and Ashok Menaria are at the crease. They are batting on 12 and 65 respectively. Menaria has struck 12 boundaries so far. Bengal bowlers are not able to get wickets in quick time intervals. They pick a wicket and then a partnership starts. Pragyan Ojha is yet to get a wicket. OUT! PR Yadav c Sudip Chatterjee b Manoj Tiwary 33(95)

Live cricket scores Rajasthan 198 & 107/3 | Bengal 282 | Overs 38| Batting: PR Yadav 33(88), Ashok Menaria 51(115): Currently, Rajasthan are leading by 23 runs. Ashok Menaria has crossed his half century. He has struck nine boundaries in his knock. There have been 13 extras in the innings. This fourth wicket partnership is now worth  92 runs. Both the batters are looking composed and calm but it takes only a single ball to dismiss a batsman. Let’s see if Bengal bowlers come up with such a delivery. Just bowling a decent line and length doesn’t works always, variations are needed sometimes. Care should be taken that variations in bowling are not overdone because there is always a threat of getting predictable. Bengal bowlers need to be more sharp in their bowling and they need to experiment more from now onwards. They have nothing to lose since the match will end in an hour or so and they have to bat too if they bowl out Rajasthan. The probability of this match to end in a draw is very high.

Live cricket scores Rajasthan 198 & 90/3 | Bengal 282 | Overs 33| Batting: PR Yadav 29(76), Ashok Menaria 44(93): Rajasthan is now leading by six runs. PR Yadav and Ashok Menaria have helped steady the ship after the loss of Vineet Saxena. Both the batters are dealing in singles right now. Menaria is just six runs short of his fifty. To get a result in this match 17 wickets have to be taken (seven remaining wickets of Rajasthan and 10 wickets of Bengal when they come to bat in fourth innings of the match) which is highly unlikely since in the next two hours it shall be end of final day’s play.

Live cricket scores Rajasthan 198 & 80/3 | Bengal 282 | Overs 27| Batting: PR Yadav 27(56), Ashok Menaria 36(78): Rajasthan is batting on 80 in their second innings and have lost three wickets in the endeavour but they are still trailing by four runs. They lost three wickets on just 15 runs, hence this partnership of PR Yadav and Ashok Menaria has taken them out of danger. This solid partnership is worth 65 runs. NB Singh and AV Choudhary are next to come if Rajasthan lose another wicket. Rajasthan have batted at a run rate of 2.96 in this innings so far.

Live cricket scores Rajasthan 198 & 58/3 | Bengal 282 | Overs 21| Batting: PR Yadav 11(37), Ashok Menaria 30(56): Rajasthan needs 26 more runs to clear the trail. They have lost their third wicket Vineet Saxena. He made just two runs in 19 balls that he faced and got out on a Ashok Dinda’s delivery. Match will end in a draw if Bengal bowlers do not take the seven wickets that are remaining in quick time. Dinda has picked two wickets in this innings. OUT! Vineet Saxena c Wriddhiman Saha b Ashok Dinda 2(19)

Live cricket scores Rajasthan 198 & 13/2 | Bengal 282 | Overs 4.2| Batting: Vineet Saxena 2(13), Ashok Menaria 0(4): Rajasthan have lost two wickets in the first five overs itself. They are still trailing by 71 runs. Rajasthan should bat with more discipline and  sincerity. Their lower order is not strong and since their two top order batters have got out, there is tremendous pressure on Vineet Saxena and Ashok Menaria who are at the crease right now. The new ball is doing a lot, hence Rajasthan batters should play very defensively. Trying to do too much at this moment will result in loss of more wickets. OUT! ST Suwalka c Wriddhiman Saha b Ashok Dinda 8(5), Ankit S Lamba lbw Veerpratap Singh 2(4)

Live cricket scores Bengal 282| Rajasthan 198 | Overs 90.3 | Batting: Ashok Dinda 1(1): Rajasthan bowl out Bengal for 282. Bengal lead by 84 runs. Rajasthan batters will start their second innings on -84 and will have to clear this deficit before they give any lead to Bengal. In Bengal’s first innings last two wickets fell for just two runs. Manoj Tiwary top scored with 83. It will be interesting to see the approach adopted by Rajasthan batters when they come to bat in their second innings— would they play their normal game or will try to squeeze out the first 20 overs. They should know that not much time is left for the Test match to end. They should be wary of Ashok Dinda and Pragyan Ojha who bowled beautifully in first innings of the match and were instrumental in not allowing Rajasthan to get to 200. OUT! Pankaj Kumar Shaw c Suwalka b AB Singh 52(66), Veerpratap Singh c Suwalka b AB Singh 3(8), Pragyan Ojha run out AR Gupta 10(11)

Manoj Tiwary’s wicket was the crucial breakthrough. He got stumped on AB Singh’s ball. He narrowly missed out on his century. Bengal are now leading by seven runs. Match will mostly end in a draw. OUT! AR Eswaran lbw AV Choudhary 53(164), Manoj Tiwary st DH Yagnik b AB Singh 87(173)
