Qualifier 1: Khulna Titans 86 in 16.2 overs, Shafiul Islam 0*: And that’s the end here! Dynamites are the first side to make it to the final. Thundering performance here by Shakib Al Hasan’s side. They were on the backfoot in the first innings but managed a modest score. Nonetheless, their bowling and fielding ensured a win for them. Only two batsmen from Titans could cross the double figures which tells the story. However, Titans have another chance to make it to the final. They will be up against Rajshahi Kings tomorrow in Qualifier 2. Meanwhile, Dynamites will be relieved of this effort and will be eager for the summit clash. That’s it from us here at CricketCountry! Goodnight folks.. 2morematchesforbpl ;)

Qualifier 1: Khulna Titans 55/5 in 10 overs, Ariful Haque 1*, Nicholas Pooran 4*: Half the innings over with Dynamites serious contenders for reaching the final. Someone from Titans’ side will have to play a blinder. Well, this looks completely out of hand as of now. Russell and Shakib have ensured the modest total looks daunting for their opposition.

Qualifier 1: Khulna Titans 41/3 in 7 overs, Abdul Mazid 1*, Benny Howall 1*: Russell is having a great match here. He not only has two wickets to his name but has taken the big scalp of Titans in form of Mahmudullah. Dynamites favourites here. #2morematchesforbpl ;)

Qualifier 1: Khulna Titans 4/0 in 1 over, Andre Fletcher 4*, Hasanuzzaman 0*: Abu Jayed was furious at the umpire for apparently not giving Fletcher out when he was, according to the bowler. The way he shouted should be recorded and set as example for other bowlers. This lame league has taken “Gawaariyat” to another level! 2morematchesforbpl 😉

Qualifier 1: Dhaka Dynamites 140/8 in 20 overs, Sunzumal Islam 0*, Dwayne Bravo 23*: Finally the first innings come to an end! Dynamites have still managed to get 140 on board even though their innings never got going. 46 from Russell and a brief cameo from Bravo has given DD some total to defend. Interesting match ahead! Join us in 15, that is if anyone is there on this match and INTERESTED. 2morematchesforbpl 😉

Qualifier 1: Dhaka Dynamites 102/6 in 15 overs, Andre Russell 33*, Dwayne Bravo 1*: 100 up for Dynamites. This by no means put Titans on top as they have the two dangerous pair of Bravo-Russell in the middle. Both the West Indian are well aware of such situations and can pile up a big score if they stay till the end. Interesting times ahead as Russell getting into his grooves while Bravo settling in.

Qualifier 1: Dhaka Dynamites 69/5 in 12 overs, Andre Russell 3*, Mosaddek Hossain 6*: Dynamites going nowhere at the moment. Half the side is sitting back at the hut. After Junaid’s three scalps, Andre Fletcher’s twin strikes have dented DD further. Will Russell guide them to a fighting total?
  • 5:55 PM IST
Qualifier 1: Dhaka Dynamites 50/3 in 7 overs, Shakib Al Hasan 12*, Nasir Hossain 10*: Titans on top here at Dhaka. Junaid Khan has given his side a perfect start. Bagging three wickets, Titans are dominating at the moment. The big fish in form of Kumar Sangakkara is also out which is the biggest plus for bowling side.
  • 5:20 PM IST
Qualifier 1: Dhaka Dynamites 11/0 in 1 over, Mehedi Maruf 7*, Evin Lewis 4*: Mahmudullah opens the attack for his side. Mehedi Maruf has started off on an attacking mode with a huge six in the very first over while Evin Lewis smashes a first ball-four. Not a great start from Titans.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry.com’s live coverage of the Qualifier 1 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016-17 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The match will be played between the two top sides, Dhaka Dynamites (DD) and Khulna Titans (KT). DD and KT finished the league at No.1 and No.2 respectively. While DD finished with 8 wins and 16 points, KT ended with 7 wins and 14 points. Two of Bangladesh’s most popular cricketers lead the sides. While Shakib Al Hasan leads the Dynamites, Mahmudullah leads the Titans. A win here will ensure a place in the final for either of the sides.

The losing team will play the winner of the first eliminator, which will be played between Chittagong Vikings vs Rajshahi Kings.

The sides have met twice in the group stages and both the times Mahmudullah had the last laugh, especially in their last encounter when the Titans’ skipper bagged the Man-of-the-Match award for his brisk half century.

BPL 2016: Points table and team standings

While Dynamites have the star value and firepower aplenty, the Titans have been a surprise package this season and have been led well by Mahmudullah. They have played as a unit and collective team effort has propelled them to the No.2 spot. Another win against the table toppers will see them in the final.

In fact, Mahmudullah is the second highest run-getter in this tournament with 369 runs at 36.90 and they have come at a strike rate of 122.59. He also has 9 wickets to his name at 23.44 and an impressive economy rate of 7.27. Though Shakib has a wicket more than his counterpart, he has not really fired with the bat and has not scored a fifty in this tournament.

Expect nothing less than a cracker of a contest.
