Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the first match of ICC Under-19 World Cup which begins today. The two sides competing in the match No.1 are England Under-19 face Fiji Under-19 at MA Aziz Stadium, Chittagong. We will bring you all the happenings from the match. The 50-over tournament will be played from January 27 to February 14. Just ahead of the big event, ICC held warm-up matches with a side playing two games each. Fiji played its two matches against South Africa and Scotland, losing both and therefore will be an underdog going into the tournament. On the other hand, England Under-19 won their opening warm-up match comfortably against Namibia, however went on to lost their second match against Bangladesh Under-19 side. Since the World Cup is being hosted by Bangladesh, they had the upper hand due to home advantage against England Under-19.

Fiji’s lone warrior Peni Vuniwaqa got run out, thereby ending the match on the third delivery of the 28th over. He top scored for Fiji with 74-ball 36, while nine other batsmen were dismissed for a single digit. And Charters was the only batsman other than Vuniwaqa to score in double digits. Live cricket score Fiji Under-19: 27/6 | Overs 10 | BATTING: Peni Vuniwaqa 11(17), Cakacaka Tikoisuva 0(2): Fiji Under-19 are already six-down, terrible terrible start to their Under-19 World Cup campaign. While two players have gone for a duck, four others were dimsised scoring in single digits. It is just Vuniwaqa who has managed into a double digit in this match so far for Fiji. England Under-19 bowlers who bagged the wickets are Sam Curran and Saqib Mahmood with three scalps to each.

Live cricket score Fiji Under-19: 3/0 | Overs 1 | BATTING: Delaimatuku Maraiwai 0(4), T Veitacini 0(2): The openers have a huge task ahead, chasing England Under-19’s 371 in 50 overs. Both sides will want to start the World CUp campaign with a win. Saqib Mahmood has opened bowling for England Under-19. Not a great start to their innings, three runs came of bye runs. Leftarm pacer Sam Curran to bowl the second over from the other end. From here, they need 367 runs to win.

English opening batsman Dan Lawrence was dismissed by Baleicikoibia scoring 174 runs in 150 balls. Along with him the other centurion was Jack Burnham who scored 148 in 137 deliveries before getting dismissed Charters. The duo shared a huge stand of 303 runs for the second wicket.

Live cricket score England U-19: 209/1 | Overs 35 | BATTING: Dan Lawrence 100 (108), Jack Burnham 90 (97): Still no wickets for Fiji and these two have brought up a stand of 189 runs for the second wicket in 32 overs. While Lawrence has brought up an excellent century in 108 balls. He drove at back-foot to drive it beating the fielder at long-on for a boundary and 100 runs. Burnham is just 10 runs short of his century, Fiji desperately need breakthroughs to comeback in the match.

Live cricket score England U-19: 77/1 | Overs 12 | BATTING: Dan Lawrence 47 (36), Jack Burnham 20 (30): After the dismissal of opening batsman Max Holden, his partner Lawerence has taken charge of England. Eight boundaries already to his name. No more breakthroughs after Fiji’s C Tikoisuva made that early breakthrough. Three bolwers had come in action untill 11 overs and all went almost 6 an over– C Tikoisuva, Charters, Baleicikoibia and all have gone almost 6 an over. The latest to have been given the ball is Weleilakeba, who also went on give 6 runs.

TOSS: England win toss, opt to bat first

Fiji’s contest against South Africa exposed their weaknesses on a bigger platform. Batting first South Africa Under-19 boys posted a total of 332 runs. In reply to that, Fiji were bundled out for a humiliating score of 49 runs in 30.4 overs. In the second game against Scotland, Fiji gave a better fight when they restricted their opponents to a mere total of 192 and eventually fell short of 21 runs.

Meanwhile, England dominated Namibia in all the departments. They set a target of 307 before bowling out the opponents for 152 runs in 34 overs. When they faced Bangladesh, it was a different sort of the side. Bangladesh posted first innings score of 246n runs which definitely was not a huge target. In reply to that, England lost both their openers for a duck, one-down batsman for nine runs followed by another duck. English skipper Brad Taylor top-scored with 41 runs in 52 balls.
