In Match No. 10 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, England will take on Australia at Edgbaston. I am Kaustubh Mayekar, and will bring live scores, interesting posts from social media and statistics in CricketCountryâs live updates blog for today. As mentioned in the preview, this will be virtual quarter-final for Australia. If they win, they will be through to the semi-finals along with England, who have already sealed a semi-final spot. If they lose, they will go home and Bangladesh, who stunned New Zealand with a 5-wicket win on Friday, will join England in the semi-finals from Group A. Live cricket score: England vs Australia, Champions Trophy 2017, Match 10 at Edgbaston
Both of Australiaâs matches have been affected by rain so far. Once they were lucky to escape a defeat at the hands of New Zealand, and on the other occasion they were unlucky not to get full points against Bangladesh. Worse, their clash against England is at the same venue Edgbaston, where both their previous matches have ended in no result. If the match against England is washed out and ends in no result as well, Australia will have to pack their bags and leave England.
All the matches, including the warm-ups, at Edgbaston have been affected by rain. On the match day too the weather forecast expects rain in the morning and evening. The match will be played on a new pitch which is expected to be full of runs. The side winning the toss, hence, must bowl first keeping the conditions in mind.
Both these teams have played each other four times in Champions Trophy history and have won twice each. The last time they met in 2013 edition, England won by 48 runs at this very venue of Edgbaston.
The spotlight in this match will be on the likes of skipper Steven Smith, David Warner and Mitchell Starc from the Australian squad. From the English camp, captain Eoin Morgan, all-rounder Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Liam Plunkett are likely to hog the limelight.
