England have won the toss in the first Test match against New Zealand at Lord’s and decided to bat first.

England have kept Tim Bresnan as the 12th man. This series is a pre-cursor to the Ashes. England will look to shed off the laziness and would look to show stellar performances.

New Zealand held England to a 0-0 draw in the three-match Test series in March 2013.

Teams:

England: Alastair Cook (c), Nick Compton, Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell, Jonathan Bairstow, Matt Prior (wk), Joe Root, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Steven Finn.

New Zealand: Peter Fulton, Hamish Rutherford, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Dean Brownlie, Brendon McCullum (c), BJ Watling (wk), Tim Southee, Bruce Martin, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult.
