Leeds: May 28, 2013

England are just four wickets away from completing a 2-0 series win against New Zealand at Leeds on Tuesday.

Looking at the situation that New Zealand are into, nothing but heavy rains can come to their rescue. And their wish was almost fulfilled as there is light drizzle at Leeds on Tuesday morning. Though the covers have come off the outfield, the pitch is still covered up.

Chasing a target of 468, New Zealand will resume the last day at six down for just 158 runs with Brendon McCullum and Tim Southee on the crease. The match might not go beyond the first session as Graeme Swann’s off-spinners are doing most of the talking in this Test.

Brief scores:

England 354 & 287 for 5 dec. (Alastair Cook 130, Jonathan Trott 72*; Kane Williamson 3 for 68) lead New Zealand 174 & 158 for 6 (Ross Taylor 70, Hamish Rutherford 42; Graeme Swann 4 for 61, Stuart Broad 1 for 19) by 310 runs.
