Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the second One-Day International (ODI) between England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The five-match series is tied at 0-0 after the first match ended in a nail-biting tie. England were set a target of 287 by Sri Lanka and it took a six off the final ball of the match from Liam Plunkett to ensure that the match ended in a tie. Sri Lanka will be utterly disappointed with the result as they were the dominant side for most parts of the match. Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews is a doubt for this match. If he misses out it will be a huge blow for Sri Lanka as he was their best player in the first match. Live Cricket Scorecard: England vs Sri Lanka 2016, 2nd ODI at Edgbaston

Live Cricket Score and Updates: England 256/0 | Overs 34.1 | TARGET 255| BATTING: Alex Hales 133 (110), Jason Roy 112 (95): If England were jittery in the earlier match, this was a bit different as two men created another record with their highest ever opening stand against Sri Lanka. Live Cricket Score and Updates: England 209/0 | Overs 29 | TARGET 255| BATTING: Alex Hales 120 (94), Jason Roy 82 (80): Hales and Roy are blistering through to create another record with their highest wicket partnership against Sri Lanka. They are already up 182 runs and Sri Lanka are helplessly looking to gain some breakthrough. The game is pretty one sided at the moment and there seems to be no way out to break this strong partnership.

Looks like the hosts are aiming for early finish here. Hales has also completed 1,000 ODI runs in international cricket. Sri Lanka are trying various combinations to break this long partnership, but neither the spinners nor the pacers unable to grab hold of the game. Need 131 to win.

Suraj Randiv ends his second over with just five runs. England need 210 runs to win.

Live Cricket Score and Updates: England 20/0 | Overs 4| TARGET 255| BATTING: Alex Hales 6 (11), Jason Roy 11 (13): England are off to a slow start. All they need is to bat sensibly at the moment and can reach this target with ease. Lakmal and Maharoof have started well, but will know that they have to get a couple of early wickets if they are to have any chances of winning this game.

Live Cricket Score and Updates: Sri Lanka 188/6 | Overs 40| BATTING: Upul Tharanga  18 (19): Prasanna cannot get after the English bowling today as a brilliant catch by David Willey in the deep removes him very early. Live Cricket Score and Updates: Sri Lanka 121/3 | Overs 26| BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 28 (52), Angelo Mathews 26 (29): Sri Lanka are going at a slow pace. With Mathews not being able to run properly with a hamstring injury, the batsmen have not been able to take the quick singles or even three, when it is easily available. England will look to keep picking up wickets at regular intervals from here and restricting their opponents.

Live Cricket Score and Updates: Sri Lanka 82/3 | Overs 19| BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 18 (31), Angelo Mathews 3 (8): Sri Lanka lose yet another wicket as Kusal Perera is run out, courtesy of a brilliant direct hit from Jason Roy. Live Cricket Score and Updates: Sri Lanka 40/1 | Overs 7| BATTING: Kusal Perera 17 (18), Kusal Mendis 0 (3): England draw first blood as Gunathilaka is caught behind off Plunkett in his very first over. Morgan was quick to replace Willey after he went for 23 in his 3 overs and brought on Plunkett in his place. It paid dividends as Gunathilaka, trying to play an expansive drive, edged one to Jos Buttler. Two Kusals at the crease now as Kusal Mendis walks in at No .3. OUT Danushka Gunathilaka c Buttler b Plunkett 22 (21)

Live Cricket Score and Updates: Sri Lanka 19/0 | Overs 4| BATTING: Kusal Perera 11 (13), Danushka Gunathilaka 8 (11): Sri Lanka have made a quiet, but solid start, but Gunathilaka was given a breather as Alex Hales dropped a catch at second slip in the second over of the match. He will look to cash in on that. Woakes and Willey have started things off well for England. Bit of swing for the bowlers, but looks like a good wicket to bat on, nevertheless.
