Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the first day’s play of the second round match between Goa and Services in the Group C of the Ranji Trophy 2015-16. Goa got off to a cracking start after drawing their first match against Hyderabad, courtesy of a ton from middle-order batsman Sagun Kamat and some excellent display of batting throughout the match. Services on the other hand cruised to a nine-wicket win over Jharkhand, who were bowled out for just 45 in their first innings. Diwesh Pathania picked up 13 wickets in the match to give Services the advantage. Goa will be aware of that and look to counter him and Services’ bowling. Live cricket score Services 230/3 | Overs 85 | Batting: Rajat Paliwal 57 (71), Yashpal Singh 0(22): Services have finished day undoubtedly in the more formidable position. Among all the completed innings only Ravi Chauhan got out for less than fifty. Aanshul Gupta, Soumik Chatterjee and Rajat Paliwal got past that mark. Goa will hope to comeback the next day and run through the top-order.

 Live cricket score Services 117/1 | Overs 49 | Batting: Aanshul Gupta 50 (142), Ravi Chauhan 9 (29): After a fine start by the openers, Services lost Soumik Chatterjee for 52 off 124 deliveries with Shadab Jakati taking the wicket. Aanshul Gupta has reached his 50 and will be hoping to convert it into a 100. Services should be careful to not lose wickets now.

Aanshul and Soumik have batted very well. They started cautiously but have progressed in a nice rhythm. Goa are getting desperate for a breakthrough.

Goa have been probing with the new ball but a wicket is yet to come. They’ll be hoping to make an impact with the new cherry.

The Services cricket team is one of the two sides in the Ranji Trophy tournament — the other being Railways — to have a pan-India appeal to it, i.e. comprise of players from all parts of the nation.  The previous season once again saw them finishing at the bottom of the table, and they will hope to put on a better display this time around.
