    Here’s our match report.

Congratulations Team India for reaching the No.1 spot in ICC ODI Rankings

  • 8:44 PM IST

0 0 0 — three dot balls from Faulkner. Common Manish, finish it off in style! Yes, he listens to me and smacks on past long-on for a boundary. That was a slower cutter from Faulkner but Pandey read it and found the gap. And that’s it. Another whip to the long-on region. India win by 7 wickets and reach the No.1 spot in ICC ODI rankings. India have won the series 4-1. That’s convincing!

  • 8:41 PM IST

8 needed from 8 overs. That’s 1 an over. Is this over where India will finish it off?

  • 8:38 PM IST

Rohit now has 29 sixes in ODIs in 2017. He has gone past his teammate Hardik Pandya, who has 28.

  • 8:32 PM IST

Now Kohli departs. Very similar to how he got out at Bengaluru. Looking to clear the long on, he finds Stoinis there. 2 quick wickets for India.

OUT! Virat Kohli c Marcus Stoinis b Adam Zampa 39 (55)
  • 8:29 PM IST

What a shame! Rohit’s outstanding knock comes to an end. Looking to clear deep midwicket, he doesn’t connect Zampa’s short ball and finds the fielder. A quality knock from the Indian opener.

    OUT! Rohit Sharma c Nathan Coulter-Nile b Adam Zampa 125 (109)
  • 8:27 PM IST

Rohit is toying with the Australian bowling. Smacks Faulkner over long on for a maximum. India are making it look very easy. It’s not easy out there to bat. It’s hot and the wicket is two-paced. This has been a brilliant knock from Rohit.

  • 8:23 PM IST

There’s an appeal against Kohli for a caught behind. Umpire says ‘not out’ but Australia review only to lose it. There’s no bat. In fact it’s a wide. Faulkner remains wicket-less.

  • 8:22 PM IST

Mohandas Menon writes : “What do you call a player like Kedar Jadhav
    He has
    * a 300 in fc cricket.
    * 2 ODI 100s
    * 16 ODI wkts in ODIs
    * 7 stumpings in T20s”

  • 8:17 PM IST

    Rohit continues rampage…

Umang presents some more interesting numbers.

Rohit’s batting average in ODIs when
    completed 3000 runs was 36.58 and when completed 6000 runs it’s 44.12!

Also, most centuries against Australia among
    Indian players:

    9 – Sachin Tendulkar, 6 – Rohit Sharma, 5 – Virat Kohli

  • 8:10 PM IST

Rohit now slams Coulter-Nile on leg-side for a massive six. That’s his 14th ODI ton. This has been a superb innings. This also is the first century by an Indian batsman in this series.

  • 8:08 PM IST

When Rohit reached 92, he reached the landmark of 6,000 ODI runs.

Umang presents a list of least innings by Indian batsmen to score 6000 ODI runs among Indians:
136 Virat Kohli, 147 Sourav Ganguly, 162 ROHIT SHARMA* ,167 MS Dhoni
  • 7:53 PM IST

Head continues… 4 from the first 5 balls and then Rohit clears wide long-on for a six. He is nearing 90s.

  • 7:46 PM IST

India need another 86 from 20 overs and they have 9 wickets in hand. They are making it ridiculously easy…

  • 7:44 PM IST

“8th-century opening stand for India in ODIs this year – their most in any calendar year. They had 7 in 2002 and 2007,” tweets Bharat Seervi

  • 7:37 PM IST

This will be the first time since Bangladesh series 2015 that Kohli will not score a century in a bilateral series.

  • 7:28 PM IST

At the half way mark, India need another 108 runs from 150 balls. It should be a walk in the park.

  • 7:19 PM IST

Like fans around the world, even Wade’s fate seems to troll him. A couple of overs back, he took a brilliant catch only to find the batsman hadn’t edged that and now he fails to complete a take, it’s actually an edge. So a drop. Rahane finds the gap behind square for a boundary. Now a huge appeal and umpire gives it. India have reviewed the decision. It’s just clipping and Rahane has to walk way. Umpire’s call prevails. That’s Coulter-Nile’s 10th wicket of the series.

Another round of Coulter-Nile vs Kohli.
    OUT! Ajinkya Rahane lbw b Nathan Coulter-Nile 61 (74)
  • 7:10 PM IST

Rahane might still be out once Shikhar Dhawan returns. But here is his string of scores since Champions Trophy 2017: 62, 103, 72, 60, 39, 5, 5, 55, 70, 53, 55*

  • 7:06 PM IST

Rahane smacks it straight over Faulkner for another brilliant boundary. He gets his fourth consecutive fifty. This is supreme exhibition of batting. Rahane’s 23rd ODI fifty. To cement his place in the side, he needs to convert it to a century.

  • 7:00 PM IST

It took him 15 balls to get off the mark. But Rohit races to fifty before Rahane. It has taken him 52 balls. He is an ODI monster, isn’t it? Now Stoinis drops it short and Rohit executes a brilliant short-arm jab for a boundary.

  • 6:57 PM IST

Play resumes after drinks. Australia have used 6 bowlers. India need 158 from 198 balls and have 10 wickets in hand. Pretty much India’s game to lose here. Head has bowled well. He is getting the length right, also he a good control. Rohit comes down the wicket, goes aerial and clears Warner at mid-on for a six. First one of India’s innings. The following ball, Rohit steps out again, makes it a full toss and drives it to a four. Rahane was 47, Rohit was 39. In matter of 2 balls, he moves to 49.

  • 6:43 PM IST

Zampa needs to get his length right. He needs to stick to one plan — either save runs or get wickets. It should be the latter in this case. He bowls a full toss to Rahane, who has no hesitation in driving it to a boundary. Nine from the over. India move to 79 after 15 overs. Yet again a solid start.

  • 6:41 PM IST

    Here’s a new PETA poster

  • 6:37 PM IST

Zampa will hold the key for Australia today. He needs to make the slowness of the surface count. He beats Rahane with his flight. Inside edge gets the batsman one. And now, Rohit is beaten, there’s an outside edge for a boundary. Zampa needs more luck. Rohit waits for the bad ball. Shorter delivery and he pulls it away for four. 12 from the over but Zampa had his moments…

  • 6:26 PM IST

Rahane welcomes Faulkner into the attack by leaning forward and driving the ball to the boundary. Fantastic shot. Faulkner has the habit of being expensive but he is also a wicket-taker. Australia are missing Kane Richardson today. Richardson is sick. He took 7 wickets from 3 ODIs in this series.

  • 6:19 PM IST

Full and wide from Coulter-Nile and Rohit plays another gorgeous drive for a boundary. Stoinis will continue from the other end.

Good Afternoon/Evening, नमस्कार! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of the fifth and final One-Day International (ODI) tie between India and Australia. The match will be held at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Sunday. I am Suvajit Mustafi and will be bringing to you all the live updates from this tie. India would not just be aiming to finish the series on a high note but also aiming the top spot. The Men in Blue had enjoyed their brief stay on the top after the Indore clash. However, after a 21-run loss victory against a resurgent Australia, they slipped back to No. 2. Australia, meanwhile, would hope to take some cues from the Bengaluru clash. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs Australia 2017, 5th ODI at Nagpur

With the series already in their hands, India have also tested their bench strength. All the bowlers – Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Akshar Patel proved to be expensive on the first go. However, Virat Kohli came in support of his bowlers and took a sly dig on his batsmen to come better. It would not come as a surprise if the reserve bowlers receive yet another chance and some changes are brought in with the batting. Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma had set the tone in Bengaluru with their second straight century-stand. Promoting Hardik Pandya to No. 4 has also worked wonders.

But the pressure is building on youngster Manish Pandey who has shown his heroics in glimpses. He is yet to get a half-century in this series.

Australia, on the other hand, grabbed the opportunity with both hands at Bengaluru. The pace trio – Kane Richardson, Pat Cummins and Nathan Coulter-Nile maintained their line and length. As for the batting, with return of Aaron Finch, the batting looks a formidable unit. But with the axe falling over Matthew Wade ahead of the Ashes, it is to be seen if the wicketkeeper makes good use of the opportunity.

The curator of Nagpur has also promised a sporting wicket for the tie, which could eventually see a high-scoring game. Although the past few games have not been so high-scoring, the relaid pitch could make a difference and worth for the money for the spectators.
