Mitchell Starc has been declared the man of the match for two games in a row for his career best figures of six for 43.

Australia have beaten India at MCG by four wickets after a brilliant innings by Aaron Finch. They won with an over to spare and have won both the matches in the tri-series so far. Earlier, Rohit Sharma’s century had propelled India to 267 for eight in 50 overs. Read Nishad Pai Vaidya‘s match report here

Australia still need 15 runs from the final two overs. It won’t be easy as the bowlers have been extremely disciplined in the last few overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is entrusted to bowl the 49th over.

Australia just 20 runs away from victory and they have four overs to get it. Glenn Maxwell and Bead Haddin are the last recognised pair and would not want to leave it to the tail enders to do the job.

Steven Smith is out for 47 and stitched together a 101-run stand with Aaron Finch. Smith played extremely attacking cricket but played defensively, whenever it was requited. Aaron Finch is batting on 95.

Australia have reached 200 in the 36th over. Aaron Finch nears his century and Steven Smith is looking at his attacking best at the other end. Australia need 68 more runs in 14 overs to win the match.

Australia have taken the batting powerplay and they are just 72 runs from their second victory of the tri-series. Steven Smith and Aaron Finch have already put on 81 runs for the third wicket and will want to finish the game off without any further damage.

Australia are inching closer and closer to a win. If they keep going t this pace, they’ll win easily. India desperately need a wicket or two quickly.

Australia still need 113 runs from 20 overs and make it two wins in a row in the series. Steven Smith looks to be in an aggressive mood and Aaron Finch is playing second fiddle to him. Looks like it’s going to be an exciting finish.

Shane Watson is clean bowled off the bowling of Akshar Pate. Watson looks to sweep Akshar Patel over the top but he misses it completely and the ball hits his off stump.

Australia managed to reach their 100 without much damage. Australia lost David Warner for 24 and since then Shane Watson and Aaron Finch have taken Australia into a commanding position. India now desperately need a wicket or two if they are to win the game.

Australia make it to 15 overs without any major hiccups. Shane Watson and Aaron Finch have been able to stabilise the innings since David Warner’s dismissal. They’re sure to win the match at this rate.

Australia lose their first wicket in the form of David Warner, who tries to pull a ball and goes in the air and is eventually gobbled up by Suresh Raina at covers. Dangerous Warner goes for 24.

Australia bring up their 50 in the ninth over without losing a wicket. They haven’t looked in trouble even for a single moment. They are well on course to win this game, unless India can come up with something special.

Australia have made a brisk start to their run-chase as they haven’t lost any wicket in the opening six overs of the match. They are also going at almost six an over, which makes it a perfect start for them.

Australia begin their run chase with David Warner and Aaron Finch opening their innings. David Warner will be high on confidence after a superb century in the previous game. Aaron Finch will look to make up for his failure in the first ODI against England.

Australia are 42 runs from winning the match and India need a couple of quick wickets, which will put pressure on the Australia batsmen. Interesting eight overs ahead of us.


Two new batsmen are at the crease after Steven Smith and Aaron Finch were dismissed in quick succession. India are now back into this game, although they can’t afford to take it easy.

Australia have reached 200 and find themselves in an extremely comfortable food position to seal this match. Aaron Finch nears his century and Steven Smith closes in on his half-century as well.



Australia need just 72 runs in the final 15 overs in the match to register another win in the series. Australia are now forced to take the batting powerplay.


India are leaking too many runs at the moment. part-time bowler Suresh Raina has been targetted nicely. India must change it’s tactics with batting powerplay around the corner.


Seven runs came of that Umesh Kumar Over. It was a good over but one ball strayed down the leg side and Steven Smith punished it.

The run flow seems to have reduced thanks to some good and sensible bowling by India. But Australia have depth in their batting and a batting powerplay up their sleeve and can still win this match.



The required run-rate is almost six an over for Australia. India will look to build more pressure and try to squeeze out another wicket, somehow.


Just a four and a singe of this over as Mohammed Shami tries to control the run flow. Ravichandran Ashwin comes on to bowl the next over.

Australia seem to be cruising despite the loss of David Warner early on. If they keep going at this rate, they’ll surely win.

India lock horns with Australia in the second One-Day International (ODI) at Melbourne. Australia put up an extremely professional performance against England and secured a three-wicket win and also earning a bonus point in the process. Australia dominated most part of the Test series against India earlier and won the four-match series 2-0. They certainly have the psychological advantage going into  this game. Having retired from Tests, captain MS Dhoni is back and he will lead the side in the series and also in the upcoming world cup. India, firstly have to address as to who will open the innings for them. Will it be Shikhar Dhawan-Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan-Ajinkya Rahane or Ajinkya Rahane-Rohit Sharma. Then, their premier fast bowler Ishant Sharma will miss the game due to an injury. This will pave way for wither Dhawal Kulkarni or Mohit Sharma to make an impression, if needed. The bowlers struggled to dismiss the Australian batsmen in the Tests and would hope that theu don’t ave a similar problem going into this game. India must go into the game believing that they can win the match as well as the series.

Australia on the other hand had everything going for them in the first ODI against England. Mitchell Starc and James Faulkner got four and three wickets respectively and David Warner started the series off with a magnificent century. They will want their skipper George Bailey to fire in the game as he is a crucial player in the team’s middle-order. It will be interesting to see if fast-bowler Gurinder Sandhu will get his debut. However, Australia will not want to change their winning combination.
