India were 53 for one in their second innings in reply to Australia’s 659 for four declared at tea on the third day of the second cricket Test.

India, who scored 191 in their first innings, still trail Australia by 415 runs with nine wickets remaining at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Michael Clarke scored an unbeaten 329 to become the sixth Australian batsman to reach the magical 300 run mark, after Sir Donald Bradman (twice), Bob Simpson, Bob Cowper, Mark Taylor and Matthew Hayden.

Clarke achieved the milestone in 432 deliveries hitting 37 boundaries and a six to achieve this feat. Bradman’s had scored 270 runs against England in 1937.

The 30-year-old shared a massive unbeaten partnership of 334 with Michael Clarke for the fifth wicket.

Hussey scored an unbeaten 150 off 253 balls which included 16 boundaries and a six.

In reply, India lost Sehwag before tea when David Warner took a blinder off the bowling of Ben Hilfenhaus.
