13.15 PM IST: Yep, what we all feared today has happened. The play has been called off for the second day of this one-off Test. India will resume at 239/0 on Day Three, if at all the weather permits. Thank you for logging in!

12.55 PM IST: The umpires have been inspecting the field, but the covers are still on. No news yet about the teams reaching the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah. Umpires will take a call at 14.30 local time, which is 14.00 IST.

11.45 AM IST: Still no chance of play resuming anytime soon.

10.50 AM IST: A canopy over one of the stands has collapsed due to rains. There is no sign of it subsiding as of now.

10.20 AM IST: The teams have not even left their hotel, which suggests that there is still a long time to go before we see the players in action. It is still raining at Fatullah.

09.55 AM IST: Bad news! This is a video Shakib al Hasan shared on Twitter. Trust me, it is scary for those who want play to resume soon:

09.50 AM IST: Are you aware that CricketCountry has launched it’s mobile app on Android platform? In case you are unaware, this app has got the fastest scorecard! Download it here.

09.40 AM IST: This is what the BCCI has to say:

09.35 AM IST: Are you aware of the reports that suggest Ravi Shastri has become the costliest coach in international cricket? I think it is an excellent move to make him the full-time coach. My view is: either you make Shastri the man in charge of the Indian cricket team, or you pull him out of the group and get someone else. You can’t have a man as strong as Shastri playing a second fiddle, or someone who will just consult over the proceedings.

09.25 AM IST: While we wait for the play to start at Fatullah, we at CricketCountry have plenty to entertain you with. This is where I determine how Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay dismantled a resurgent Bangladesh, and my colleague Pramod Ananth tells you about the flaw in Bangladesh’s approach to the one-off Test versus India. Have a read!

More updates from the ground. It has stopped raining and the covers are coming off. However, the problem now is there is bad light. They are clearing the ground. Hopefully the match will start soon.

UPDATE: The Day Two of the first Test was supposed to start early to make up for the lost hours of Day One. However, it has been raining heavily at Fatullah and start has been delayed.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the second day’s play of the first and only Test between Bangladesh and India in Fatullah on Thursday. This is Devarchit Varma, and I will be presenting to you the live updates from the day’s play. LIVE SCORECARD: India vs Bangladesh, only Test at Fatullah, Day 2

Day One of play was dominated entirely by Team India as Bangladesh failed to make even a single breakthrough in the 56 overs of play that were possible in the rain affected day. However, it may all be inconsequential in the end as there is plenty of rain predicted for the coming days of the Test too.

Draw seems to be the most likely result in this Test bearing in mind the weather conditions, but India would like to give themselves a chance by playing aggressive and they also have the perfect platform to accelerate. Shikhar Dhawan has an unbeaten 150 to his name, while Murali Vijay scored a slower 89.

Given the kind off headstart, India will surely go aggressive. Bangladesh’s bowlers will have to make timely breakthroughs so as to keep the Indian batsmen from scoring very fast.

TEAMS:

India: Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron.

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haq, Mushfiqur Rahim (c), Shakib-al-Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das (wk), Shuvagata Hom, Jubair Hossain, Taijul Islam, Mohammad Shahid.
