Hello and welcome to the live cricket blog and updates of the second Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and England. The match is scheduled to be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. England will be confident after winning the opening T20I of the three-match series, while India will be eager to level it. England, who were the runners up of the ICC World T20 2016, have proved why they are superior when they play in coloured clothings. However, India will leave no stone unturned to emerge triumphant, as the second T20I will be a do-or-die match for them in order to stay alive in the series.

Though India have been dominant in the tour, England made a good comeback in the Kolkata ODI, followed by a 7-wicket win in the Kanpur T20I. The England bowlers, however, were successful in restricting India’s heavy top-order within a safe score, eventually ending India’s innings with a below-par score on the board. Given there was no pressure of chasing down a big target, it helped the England batsmen to score runs with ease and comfort, beating India by 7 wickets. The Indian batting line-up did not look threatening, albeit MS Dhoni emerging as the highest run-getter of the innings with his 36 off 27. Suresh Raina’s 34 and Virat Kohli’s 29 were the other major contributions in taking the score to 147 for 7 after their 20 overs. Moeen Ali impressed with 2 wickets, while all the other England bowlers were successful in taking a wicket each.

Jason Roy and Sam Billings took the team off to a decent start, but it was the partnership between Joe Root and Eoin Morgan that took England from 43 for 2 to 126 for 3. Morgan played a blistering knock of 38-ball 51, while Root remained unbeaten for 46 to take his team to victory. Yuzvendra Chahal was exceptional with the ball striking early with a couple of wickets, while Parvez Rasool was the only other successful bowler for India.

As skipper Kohli said after the match, India failed to put up a big total and will be aiming to do that in the next match, while England will look to replicate their performance for a similar result.
