Hello and Welcome to CricketCounry’s coverage of final day’s play of the second Test between India and England at Vishakapatnam. I am Kaustubh Mayekar and I will be bringing you all the updates of the day’s play. A game that most of the day belonged to England, tilted towards India once again with those two crucial wickets in the final session of the Day Four. India, setting target of 405 for England, scalped the wickets of the opening batsmen Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed. India are just 8 wickets away from victory and with Joe Root the lone player on the crease, England will have various thoughts on who to send in at No. 4. FULL Cricket Scorecard: India vs England 2nd Test at Vizag

India had a decent outing in the second innings in comparison to the first where there were two centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and fifty from Ravichandran Ashwin to post challenging total of 455 on board. England tried counter attacking the the total but failed with India’s spinners once against dominating over the visitors especially with Ashwin’s yet another fifer. India’s second innings saw Kohli once again going all-guns blazing with his fifty while Jayant Yadav and tail-enders playing crucial role in building a strong total on board.

England did show grit and confidence as well with their batting and bowling. Where there were fifties from Jonathan Bairstow and Ben Stokes, there were 4-fors from Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid, who now holds maximum wickets in this series. Alastair Cook, Haseeb Hameed have already got a century and fifty in their first Test. However, they haven’t really clicked in the second to make this Test count. Meanwhile, Root had decent outing as he got his fifty in the first innings and now is on the crease, waiting for a companion to chase the remaining runs and take lead in the series.

Ahead of the second Test and during the match, there were milestones that were celebrated in the perfect way. For India, Ashwin bagged his 50th Test wicket in a calendar year and is all set to go past the veteran Rangana Herath. Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay got their 3,000 Test runs. As for England, Bairstow completed 1,200 Test runs this year and with yet to bat, he has many more to flow his way. But there was one milestone that was celebrated between both the batsmen, who shared this in the same match on the same day in a new venue. Kohli and Root have completed their 50th Test and Kohli has already made it special with a century and fifty in this Test. Root also got to his fifty and now that he is on the crease, if he manages to change the tale of the game, He has all the chance to make this even more special.

India had won the toss and elected to bat first in the second Test, making few changes to their side with inclusion of newbie Jayant in place of Mishra. KL Rahul, who hasn’t been at par in this series, was called as the 1st choice opener in place of Gautam Gambhir. England, in contrast, followed the rotation policy and benched out Chris Woakes, making way for the much anticipated bowler James Anderson.
