Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of India in South Africa series. This is the first ODI of the six-match ODI series at Kingsmead in Durban. I am Suvajit Mustafi and I will be presenting to you all the updates from the first game. South Africa clinched the three-match Test series by 2-1. India ended ona high though, winning the Johannesburg Test that was played at an extremely tough track. The tour now moves to limited-overs leg. India have not won a single ODI in Durban. With 2019 World Cup just a year away, both teams will look to set a plan in motion. There is also the No. 1 spot up for grabs.

South Africa have not lost the last 17 ODIs at home and are currently the No. 1 team. India, on the other hand, have lost just seven of their last 25 matches. India are bolstered by the arrival of some fresh faces in form of Kedar Jadhav, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Manish Pandey and likes. Virat Kohli mentioned he is looking to build the core line-up for 2019 World Cup through this ODI series. He has already hinted on playing Ajinkya Rahane at No. 4.

It is to be seen if Rahane would come in place of Pandey. As for the bowlers, it is a fix between Mohammed Shami and Thakur. In case India decide to go to in with two spinners then both are expected to miss out.

South Africa, on the other hand, had an early blow. AB de Villiers, who injured his finger during the third Test, has been ruled out for the first three ODIs. South Africa team management might Aiden Markram in absence of de Villiers.
