Hi folks! Welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of Day Four of the second Test of the Gandhi-Mandela series between India and South Africa at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. I am Shiamak Unwalla, and I will bring you all the live cricket scores and updates of this match. After a riveting Day One which saw the Indian spinners wreck havoc over the South Africans, we have had to endure two dreary rain-filled days as the likelihood of a result becomes smaller and smaller. Stranger things have happened in cricket though; a wicket-filled session for either team can make things quite interesting. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs South Africa 2nd Test at Bengaluru

2:30pm Update: Well, there was much promise at the start of the day. Play was to begin a bit late. Two sessions were going to be played. Then one session. And now play has been called off. Again. For the third day in a row. This is incredibly frustrating and very disappointing. Play will begin at 9:15am IST assuming it does not rain again. Till then, that’s all we have for today. Have a good day!

1:10pm Update: Finally some encouraging news! Play will hopefully begin at 2:00pm, which will mean at least one session of play on Day Four. India will in all likelihood come out all guns blazing. But there appears to be another drizzle, so let us not hold our breath.

11:45am Update: The news becomes less and less good, I’m afraid. Still no play, the next inspection will be at 1:00pm.

10:00am Update: Reasonably good news. The rains are still at bay, but there will be no play till at least 11:30, at which point there will be another pitch inspection.

9:15am Update: Good news! No rain in Bengaluru today, but there will be a delay. Umpires will have an inspection at 10:00am IST to check if play can begin at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Day Two and Three have already been washed out due to rain.

Days Two and Three were washed out without a single ball being bowled, but the match remains in India’s grasp. It will be interesting to see whether Indian skipper Virat Kohli goes for the kill and makes the aggressive decision of declaring with India in the deficit. He has stated in the past that he would prefer risking a loss if it meant opening up the potential for a win. Going by that aggressive thought process, he might consider batting for an hour or so and getting as many runs as possible so that India can eat into the current South African lead. Kohli will be confident in his bowlers’ abilities after Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja combined to clean out the Proteas in the first innings. The two spinners took four wickets each as South Africa were bowled out for a mere 214. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay then put on an unbeaten 80 for the opening wicket as India ended Day One with a vice grip on the match.
