They get a single to finish the over. India go to the hut with 363 on the board. This is a good batting track and Sri lanka may fancy their chances. Remember, last year India had chased down two 350-plus totals against Australia. Sri Lanka will hold on to that hope. Do join us in about 40 minutes from now.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry‘s live coverage of the first One-Day International (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. I am Nishad Pai Vaidya, and I will be bringing you the updates from this match.

India will take on Sri Lanka in the first game of their five-match One-Day International (ODI) series at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. With the two Asian rivals clashing in a hastily-arranged series in the wake of the West Indies’ withdrawal, the series gets much of its attention from the fact that they are among the favourites for the ICC World Cup 2015, and the outcome of this series can have a huge impact on their build-up to the mega tournament.

Regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been given rest for the first three ODIs of the five-match series against the Lankans planned hastily after the West Indies pulled out over a pay dispute with their Board (WICB) but stand-in captain Virat Kohli said there is no question of any lack in intensity from his team.

Sri Lanka were preparing to face a lowly England at home in a seven-match ODI affair slated to begin on November 26. One of the most successful teams in world cricket this year, the Lankans are led astutely by Angelo Mathews. They would have been looking forward to another series win at home to keep their winning momentum ahead of the World Cup. However, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) pulled out its players from training camps and put them on a flight to face the Indians in their own backyard.

Squads:

India: Virat Kohli (c), Murali Vijay, Varun Aaron, Akshar Patel, Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhawal Kulkarni, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Amit Mishra.

Sri Lanka: Angelo Mathews (c), Kusal Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Ashan Priyanjan, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dhammika Prasad, Lahiru Gamage, Chaturanga de Silva, Seekuge Prasanna, Suraj Randiv.
