India have also brought medium pacer Shikha Pandey and slow left-arm orthodox spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad into the attack. Both the batters are dealing mostly in singles at the moment. Toss: Sri Lanka Women win the toss and elect to bat first
Teams:
India: Mithali Raj (c), Deepti Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Poonam Yadav, Smriti Mandhana, Shikha Pandey, Thirush Kamini, Jhulan Goswami, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Sushma Verma (wk), Veda Krishnamurthy
Sri Lanka: Shashikala Siriwardene (c), Parasadani Weerakkody (wk), Chamari Atapattu Jayangani, Yasoda Mendis, Dilani Manodara Surangika, Udeshika Prabodhani, Eshani Kaushalya, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Chandima Gunaratne, Lasanthi Madushani, Sugandika Kumari
For Sri Lanka, only opening batter Prasadani Weerakkody clicked for them in their batting. If the visitors want to stage a comeback in the series, it is imperative that other batswomen also give healthy contributions. Their bowling was also not penetrative in the first match. Talking of India, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur struck half centuries while Mithali was unfortunate to miss out on a fifty by just one run. India will be hoping that their batting form continues in the second match as well. If Sri Lanka play with a little more vigour and determination, they can certainly give India a tough fight and even win the second one-day.
