Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have reached the score of 134 runs for the loss of nine wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 17th T20 match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012.

KKR s skipper Gautam Gambhir, having won the toss decided to toss the ball to spinners which paid dividends as Sunil Narine stuck in the third over of the innings as he removed dangerous Adam Gilchrist for just five runs. Narine followed up with Shaun Marsh s dismissal in the fifth over.

Opener Mandeep Singh took charge of Punjab s innings as he scored off the loose deliveries but KKR s star of the previous match Shakib Al Hasan sent him back to pavilion which ended 52-run partnership with David Hussey.

Even the Australian batsman could not continue the consolidation as he was ran out by Gambhir after scoring 32 runs.

Narine was the best bowler for KKR with five wickets conceding just 19 runs.

It is the visitors’ ability to adapt against Knight Riders slow bowlers Shakib and Sunil Narine on the difficult Eden surface that would determine the outcome of the match.

Against Rajasthan Royals, Shakib was brilliant with his guile as his three wickets in a crucial stage of the match ensured it a low-scoring affair. The Bangladeshi will once again look to sizzle.

Brief Score: KXIP 134 for 9 in 20 overs (Mandeep Singh 38, David Hussey 32; Sunil Narine 5 for 19) vs KKR
